Job Description

Job Overview:

Provide daily support to the BD Sandy Machine Shop in a hybrid Production Planner / Master Scheduler and Supply Chain role. This position partners closely with the Senior Planner to coordinate production activities and ensure efficient workflow across the shop. Key responsibilities include work order creation, external processing (OSP) coordination, and managing pickups, deliveries, and finished part distribution. The role also supports Tool Crib operations, including cataloging and returning completed parts. Ideal candidates bring basic digital literacy, strong communication abilities, and a team-oriented demeanor, along with foundational knowledge of machining or metalworking practices. This role requires ownership and accountability to maintain smooth operations and meet production demands.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations in the BD Sandy Machine Shop in an onsite, AM shift (Monday-Friday) role.
  • Assist with production planning activities, including work order creation, routing, and coordination across machine shop work centers.
  • Maintain part flow by coordinating Tool Crib demand, raw material availability, and finished part distribution.
  • Support supplier and off-site processing (OSP) activities, including pickups, deliveries, and vendor coordination.
  • Learn and apply BD policies and procedures related to machine shop operations, tool crib interface, and supply chain processes.
  • Develop working knowledge of machine shop processes, including material types, heat treating, and post-processing.
  • Prioritize urgent work orders to ensure production timelines are met.
  • Partner with planners, buyers, and machine shop teams to track materials and support production needs.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and apply measurement/inspection techniques as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts (Kaizen) to enhance efficiency, quality, and delivery.
  • Support inventory organization, raw material handling, and shop floor needs, including assisting machinists when required.
