Job Description Summary
The Hardware Engineering Delivery Lead willbe responsible forleading the design and development of key product development initiatives within the Pharmacy Automation robotic portfolio. In recent years, Medication Management Solutions (MMS) has built this history through a significant expansion into the high-growth pharmacy automation space and is now one of the global leaders in pharmacy automation. The Pharmacy Automation platform positions BD to offer our pharmacy customers a more comprehensive set of smart, connected care technologies as they expand care to new settings, centralize their pharmacy operations and lead the charge in addressing some of the biggest challenges facing the industry. BD's Pharmacy Automation portfolio covers a wide range of hardware and software technologies from storage and dispensing robots, inspection systems, pouch packagers, vial filling systems, blister card production robotics, and central fill solutions with enterprise pharmacy management software. This technical leader willbe responsible forleading the hardware development activities and quality design improvements within the pharmacy automationrobotic portfolio.
This ideal hardware engineering leader will display excellent cross-functional communication skills, strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and demonstratethe ability to bring clarity to ambiguous areas to drive decisions. Strong business acuity with steadfast focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and expedition in delivery of projects will be pivotal in this role. Demonstrated analytical, decisionmaking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills will be key.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategic HW direction of a key product within the pharmacy automationportfoliowhichultimately improvescustomer satisfaction in a cost-effective manner.
- Lead functional members of the Hardware Engineering Team through the development of key NPD initiatives by providingday to daytechnical guidance to ensure workishigh quality, on-time and within budget.
- Ensure the team uses the best engineering practices within design, analysis, simulation, integration, test, and documentation.
- Develop an integrated R&D product development project plan to deliver and implement efficiently and with sound quality.
- Proactivelyidentifyrisks and issues and advance them asappropriate.
- Apply a data driven structured prioritization process to ensure the highest value tasks receive proper attention.
- Collaborate with core team members and other functional leaders to ensure that new hardware developments are aligned andon-trackwith organizational goals andobjectives. Provide updatesonprogram performance metrics and progress of plans.
- Collaborate with multi-functional development teams to define technical product strategies and technology roadmaps.
- Ensure alignment to company processes and procedures including Design Controls, Product Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, Phase Reviews.
- LeverageDesign for Six Sigma development methodologies and other best-in-class R&D tools.
- Provide labor and non-labor needs and schedule estimations for hardware related scope and work.
- Plan and administer yearly portfolio budget to ensure proper execution of workisaligned to business value.
- Work with R&D functional leaders to assign engineering fields vital to achieve key delivery dates for the assigned NPD initiative.
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership toin-directreports with the ability toinvestigatetechnical issues.
- Clearly articulate goals and expectations to individual contributors to support the team's success while constructively mentoring and givingappropriate feedback.
- Help support a data driven culture.
- Closely supervise product field performance of launched products and conduct RCA analysis on top field failures.
- Report internal test data to field support teams and collaborate to enhance "predictive" maintenance initiatives.
MinimumRequirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering field
- 2yearsrelated work experience in R&D technical engineering leadership roles
- Experience leadingengineering teams that consist of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and controlsoftware engineers to meet planned milestones.
- Understanding offull cycle product development and quality management systems.
- Understanding of current safety and regulatory standards forrobotic products sold globally
- Leadership experience in a complex development environment.
- Experience with development landmark planning and project management methodologies (Agile and/or waterfall) for complex systems
- Willing to travel as part of this role where prior notice will be given.
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in engineeringfield
- PMPcertification
- Experience in the design and development of medical device systems or other FDA regulated products.
- Experience working with global teams and external development partners.
