As our Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how BD shows up in Japan - inspiring employees, elevating our reputation, and connecting our story to the people
and communities we serve. This is a role for strategic storyteller who builds trust, mobilizes stakeholders, and amplifies a mission that matters.
Key Responsibilities
1. External Communications - Elevate Our Presence
You will be the storyteller who brings BD's innovation, values, and societal contributions to life.
- Lead strategic corporate PR that strengthens BD's standing as a trusted and purpose-driven leader.
- Drive compelling product and innovation stories that resonate with media, customers, and industry influences.
- Build strong, proactive relationships with journalists and media partners; coordinate interviews and briefings.
- Guide PR agencies with clarity and creativity to deliver measurable outcomes.
- Partner on crisis communications preparedness and response.

2. Internal Communications - Inspire Our People
You will help create a culture where every employee feels informed, connected, and inspired.
- Enhance engagement and connection through internal campaigns and events that strengthen pride and belonging.
- Create a cohesive employee experience by leading key channels (town halls, intranet, newsletters) and ensuring messages are timely, relevant, and unified.
3. Digital Communications - Drive Modern, Data-Driven Engagement
You will connect BD with audiences through compelling, timely digital content.
- Create and distribute impactful content for priority professional platforms and owned channels to reach key audiences.
- Manage corporate content on the local website
- Use analytics and KPIs to iterate content strategy, improve reach and engagement, and optimize the overall channel mix.
- Champion smart use of digital tools to communicate faster, clearer, and with greater impact.
Qualifications and experiences
Required
- 5-7+ years in PR or corporate communications
- Experience in global or multinational organizations; proven ability to localize global strategies for Japan
- Hands-on experience managing agencies and external partners
- Native-level Japanese with exceptional writing and storytelling skills
- Business-level English
Preferred
- Experience in Healthcare, MedTech, or pharmaceutical sectors.
(Consumer health, food/cosmetics, FMCG industries are also welcome)
- Background in crisis communication and/or internal communications.
