Job Description:

Join Bank of America's Asia Pacific legal team as the lead lawyer supporting the Australia investment banking and capital markets businesses. The role offers broad exposure to M&A, equity and debt capital markets transactions, close partnership with senior bankers and internal stakeholders and the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile domestic and cross-border matters. Join a collaborative and experienced Asia-Pacific legal team working closely with colleagues regionally and globally. This is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the world's leading investment banking and capital markets platforms globally, supporting clients around the world and across all major industries on transactions ranging from strategic advice to mergers & acquisitions to equity and debt offerings.

Responsibilities:

Alongside other members of the team in Asia and globally, you will

  • Assist bankers by reviewing/negotiating transaction documents;
  • Engage, instruct and supervise external counsels;
  • Assist in structuring and executing corporate and capital markets transactions;
  • Contribute to internal guidelines, policies, procedures and standardized documentation;
  • Identify and advise on regulatory developments, new products or trends in the market; and
  • Interact with different internal functions and develop a relationship with internal stakeholders as a trusted partner, providing practical legal advice

Your background:

  • Qualified lawyer under the laws of any of the states or territories of Australia and/or the laws of a common law jurisdiction who is experienced with Australian market practices
  • At least ten years post qualifications experience with a leading Australian or international law firm or financial services company working on international corporate and/or capital markets transactions
  • Strong commercial judgement and a practical, solutions-oriented approach coupled with a desire to continually grow and adapt
  • Based in Sydney, NSW
