Software Engineer, DataOS Infra Platform - P3

Position Overview
Autodesk's Analytics Data division is building DataOS, a modern platform that powers analytics and data workloads across Autodesk.
The DataOS Infra Platform team builds the foundational services that help teams provision and operate compute, storage, orchestration, and other data infrastructure through secure and reliable self-service experiences.
We are looking for an experienced software engineer who enjoys building platforms, solving infrastructure problems, and improving the experience of other developers. You will work on backend services, APIs, automation, and developer-facing capabilities that make DataOS easier to use, operate, and scale.
This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership of production systems and platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate backend services, APIs, and platform components.
  • Create abstractions that simplify access to compute, storage, orchestration, and tenant resources.
  • Build automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational recovery.
  • Improve platform reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop self-service workflows and tools for analytics and data teams.
  • Contribute to distributed systems supporting batch, streaming, and interactive workloads.
  • Partner with product managers, architects, data engineers, and platform users to deliver practical solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, documentation, and on-call support.
  • Take ownership of capabilities from design through production operation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a similar language.
  • Experience building backend services, APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  • Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, containers, and production operations.
  • Ability to independently deliver and operate moderately complex technical capabilities.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building data platforms, infrastructure platforms, or internal developer tools.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or infrastructure-as-code technologies.
  • Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, Trino, EMR, Airflow, or Temporal.
  • Experience with observability, service-level objectives, or production reliability.
  • Experience improving infrastructure automation, security, or cloud cost efficiency.
  • Familiarity with building simple user interfaces or developer portals.

Who You Are

  • You enjoy building reusable solutions that help other teams move faster.
  • You are comfortable working through ambiguity and learning new technologies.
  • You care about clean APIs, reliable systems, and thoughtful automation.
  • You balance delivering value with building maintainable systems.
  • You take responsibility for the systems you build and operate.
  • You collaborate well and help raise the engineering quality of the team.

What Success Looks Like

  • Teams can complete common infrastructure workflows through clear self-service experiences.
  • Platform services become easier to operate, understand, and trust.
  • Manual work and recurring support requests decrease through automation.
  • Reliability, security, and cost visibility improve over time.
  • You independently own and improve meaningful areas of the DataOS platform.
