Position Overview
Autodesk is seeking a Principal Software Quality Assurance Developer to lead quality strategy and execution for the Fusion product within the Data and Process Management team. This role is responsible for driving quality culture, release readiness, and customer-centric outcomes across multiple Agile teams, operating at a project or program level. This is a hands-on principal role with strong influence across Product, Engineering, UX, and Support, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and predictable delivery.

Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Leadership:

  • Own and drive project-level quality strategy, embedding quality throughout planning and delivery
  • Establish Quality RACI and accountability across Scrum teams
  • Act as the primary quality leader, influencing prioritization, risk mitigation, and delivery decisions
  • Identify and manage quality risks using data, metrics, and engineering judgment
  • Champion scalable QA best practices across teams

Release Readiness & Metrics:

  • Define and enforce release quality criteria and readiness standards
  • Establish quality metrics, health indicators, and escalation thresholds
  • Serve as the quality gatekeeper, representing customer impact and release confidence
  • Communicate quality health and risks clearly to leadership

Agile & Cross-Team Collaboration:

  • Partner with Scrum teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC
  • Drive consistent Definition of Done and strong acceptance criteria practices
  • Lead QA alignment across teams for multi-team initiatives
  • Define and guide test strategies for complex, cross-functional deliveries

Customer-Centric Quality:

  • Ensure solutions meet real customer workflows and expectations
  • Partner with Support and Engineering on customer issue prioritization and resolution
  • Analyze customer issues and feedback to identify systemic quality gaps
  • Act as a bridge between Engineering and customer-facing teams

End-to-End & Solution Quality:

  • Ensure integration, solution-level, and end-to-end testing for complex initiatives
  • Define and review E2E test strategies aligned with customer journeys
  • Coordinate cross-team test planning, execution, and reporting

Automation & Quality Enablement:

  • Influence automation strategy and goals across teams
  • Contribute to scalable end-to-end automation focused on critical workflows
  • Promote effective use of modern automation tools and frameworks

Organizational Impact:

  • Support organization-wide quality initiatives (bug bashes, insider programs, targeted testing)
  • Provide strategic and hands-on support for high-impact quality objectives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years' experience in QA, Software Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Proven ownership of quality outcomes across multiple Agile teams or at project/program level
  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience in large, cross-functional organizations
  • Expertise in defining quality standards, release criteria, and Definition of Done
  • Hands-on experience with test strategy, planning, and acceptance criteria
  • Strong experience with integration, solution, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience using quality metrics and data to drive decisions
  • Strong understanding of test automation practices (e.g., Cypress, Playwright)
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating at Principal or equivalent senior technical level
  • Experience influencing quality strategy beyond a single team
  • Experience with SaaS, cloud, or enterprise-scale platforms
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity)
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Experience mentoring or guiding QA engineers across teams
  • Experience working closely with Support/Customer Success teams
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion, PLM, CAD, or design software is a plus

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $104,000 and $143,000. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
