Job Description for Director, Global Stock & Employment Tax
Autodesk is looking for a Director of Global Stock and Employment Tax to join our team. This position will report to our Head of Global Payroll & Stock and will be US or Dublin based. This role will be embedded virtually with our globally dispersed team and be a member of a worldwide, best-in-class finance organization
This role requires an individual who can think strategically, lead with authority, manage a sophisticated global stock compensation program, operate as a subject matter expert on global employment tax matters, and effectively lead a team of highly motivated individuals. The Director will play a key role in driving the success of these programs at a global scale
This job requires execution of the below responsibilities with accuracy, ownership, and accountability
Responsibilities
- Lead Global Stock Administration and Compliance: Oversee all global stock administration functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, audits, and reporting while maintaining high standards of quality control. This includes oversight and direct handling of complex stock transactions such as new grant issuances, stock option exercises, restricted stock unit releases, and employee stock purchases through the ESPP
- Operate as a subject matter expert of global employment tax matters: Advise stakeholders for all employment tax related issues, including new and changing regulations to ensure accurate payroll tax withholding and reporting. This includes advising on new employee benefit, global mobility, and contingent workforce programs
- Tax and Payroll Coordination: Ensure seamless coordination with global payroll teams, and other stakeholders, to guarantee timely and accurate reporting and remittance of taxes, while maintaining compliance across all jurisdictions
- Manage tax audits: Manage global payroll tax audits and liaise with foreign Tax Authorities and internal stakeholders. Identify and implement process improvement strategies to increase compliance and reduce risk across programs globally
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with senior leaders across Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and other key departments to develop and execute strategies for stock compensation plans and employee benefit programs
- Process Improvement and Automation Leadership: Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives, enhancing operational efficiency in global stock administration and employment tax matters
- Communication and Education Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies for stock and employment tax programs to enhance employee understanding and engagement
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Support decision-making through use of advanced reports and data analysis, including employee participation, eligibility, plan performance, cost trending, and employment tax risks
- SoX compliance and audit readiness: Oversee and act as a primary liaison with stakeholders on SOX compliance and maintain internal documentation to a high standard for audits

Minimum Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Solid expertise in stock plan management and employment tax, with a strategic mindset to solve complex global challenges
- Leadership Excellence: Proven experience leading teams and managing large-scale cross-functional projects with the ability to drive organizational change
- Exceptional Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong data analysis and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex information to diverse audiences
- System Expertise: Extensive experience with E*TRADE's Client Resource Center or similar stock administration platforms, Workday HCM, and global payroll systems
- In-depth Knowledge: Strong understanding of SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit processes
- Advanced Automation Skills: Proficiency in identifying opportunities for automation and streamlining operations, with a focus on innovation and efficiency
- Extensive Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in global stock plan administration and employment tax, with a proven track record in a public company environment
- Educational Background: B.S. degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certifications such as CEP are highly preferred
