Role/Purpose

As the Director of Business Operations & Strategy for the DEC team, reporting directly to the VP of Digital and eCommerce (DEC), you'll be a key member of the Leadership Team (LT), leading key operational and strategy functions in pursuit of DEC's commercial goals.

You will drive the rhythm of the business, working in close collaboration with other members of the DEC Leadership Team (LT) to ensure the smooth operations of the function, tight collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, and flawless execution of initiatives and roadmaps in pursuit of DEC's objectives.

Your role will also be crucial in shaping, executing, and assessing the strategy and operational framework necessary to ensure we meet our objectives. You'll manage operational and development schedules, drive continuous improvement in business processes, and oversee the planning and administration of procedures and budgets across the whole organization, acting as a trusted partner and collaborator to other DEC LT members - and to other planning teams across the company which are dependent on DEC for their future success.

As well as owning the DEC-wide dashboard used by the DEC LT and stakeholders to monitor the performance of the function, you will also be looking for opportunities to improve processes in line with the strategic goals of the function, and of Autodesk - always cognizant of the company's culture and primary targets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Business Operations

  • Ensuring tight integration with other teams within WW Marketing, and key stakeholders across the company, including Customer Success, Finance, GET, HR, and WW Sales.

Change Management

  • Driving process adoption and adherence within DEC and between DEC and key stakeholder groups (e.g., new DEC Governance model for Autodesk.com).

Communications

  • Effectively coordinating the communication of new features, policies, and processes within DEC, and between DEC and key stakeholders (e.g., introduction of new content publishing guidelines for IPEM).

Capital Intake & Prioritization

  • Leading the process for capturing, prioritizing, and then managing the backlog of tech and product requirements for DEC and MarTech capital requirements for WW Marketing.

Portfolio Management & Roadmaps

  • Driving the prioritization of incoming requests into an agreed list of approved requirements supported by business cases that tie back to short- and long-term commercial goals. Developing, monitoring, and communicating roadmaps for all major initiatives, ensuring complete clarity for all stakeholders.
  • Creating and maintaining an accurate roadmap and timeline for the DEC function, monitoring the progress of key initiatives both inside and outside DEC, allowing the LT and key stakeholders to have an accurate view of progress at all times.

Strategy & Planning

  • Working closely with other strategy teams across the company to ensure that DEC is properly coordinated with the SI/SR and other planning processes.
  • Developing and implementing business processes that will support operational efficiency and growth in Digital and eCommerce operations.
  • Collaborating with the VP and other senior leaders to align DEC operational goals with the company's overall strategic objectives.

Vendor Management

  • Ensuring a consistent approach to vendor management across DEC, to include commercial relationships with third parties like Google, together with the day-to-day management of contractors and contingent workforce within the team.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to optimize costs and service levels in collaboration with other members of the LT

Operational Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Digital and eCommerce function, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
  • Optimize workflows and systems to enhance productivity and performance, acting as a force-multiplier for the VP and other LT members.
  • Coordinate DEC-wide budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics working in close collaboration with Finance and other LT members.

Performance Metrics & Forecasting

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and drive operational success in collaboration with other LT members.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure that there are no surprises for the LT or CMO.
  • Leading the DEC-wide forecasting process in close collaboration with sales leaders, Finance and other stakeholder teams to ensure consistent performance in line with targets.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operations professionals and contractors.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the team, with WW Marketing and across Autodesk.
  • Ensure clear communication and alignment of goals across all team members and functions within DEC.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with other functions (especially WW Marketing, GET, Finance, Product, Customer Success and Sales to ensure cohesive and integrated operations.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between teams to achieve shared objectives and clarity around goals.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks to safeguard the business.
  • Work closely with the Autodesk Compliance and Trust teams to ensure that DEC understands and complies with key targets and policies

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in scaled Digital and eCommerce operations with turnover > $1B per annum.

Skills

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Executive presence - able to influence at a senior level, and partner effectively with other business operations and planning leaders across Autodesk.
  • Deep knowledge of eCommerce platforms, digital marketing, and related business principles, technologies, and solutions.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $160,700 and $259,930. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
