Position Overview
Autodesk is seeking an experienced and strategic accounting leader to join our Global Controllership organization as the Director, Corporate Accounting - India. This role will serve as the Controllership site leader for Autodesk's India finance hub and will be responsible for building and scaling a high-performing corporate accounting team supporting Autodesk's global accounting operations.
As a key member of the Corporate Accounting leadership team, this role will oversee critical accounting processes supporting Autodesk's global close and financial reporting environment under US GAAP. The Director will partner closely with global Finance teams including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Revenue Accounting, Procurement, Payroll, Sales Finance, PPL, Legal and External Reporting to ensure high-quality financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable accounting processes.
This leader will play a critical role in expanding Autodesk's controllership capabilities in India while supporting the company's growth as a global leader in design, engineering, and entertainment software. The role requires deep technical accounting expertise, operational leadership, and experience managing accounting teams within large multinational organizations.
Responsibilities
- India Controllership Leadership: Serve as the primary Controllership site leader for Autodesk's India location, representing the Corporate Accounting organization and partnering with global finance leadership
- Team Building & Organizational Development: Build, scale, and lead a high-performing accounting organization in India, including hiring, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals
- Global Close Leadership: Oversee month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned accounting areas, including balance sheet review processes, variance analysis, and reconciliation governance
- Accounting Operations Ownership: Lead accounting activities across key corporate accounting areas such as accruals, corporate allocations, severance accounting, royalties, ESG accounting, defined benefit obligations, and other global accounting activities
- Accounting Governance & US GAAP Compliance: Ensure consistent application of US GAAP and Autodesk accounting policies across accounting processes managed by the India team
- Financial Reporting Support: Partner with Autodesk's External Reporting team to support SEC filings including 10-K and 10-Q disclosures, footnote preparation, and reporting analytics
- Audit & SOX Compliance: Coordinate with internal audit and external auditors, manage audit deliverables, and ensure strong SOX control execution across accounting processes
- Systems & Close Automation: Drive optimization and governance of financial close systems including SAP and BlackLine while identifying opportunities for automation and process efficiency
- Strategic Finance Initiatives: Lead and support cross-functional initiatives that enhance accounting scalability, strengthen financial controls, and support Autodesk's evolving business model including cloud and subscription revenue
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with global stakeholders across Finance and Operations to provide accounting guidance and ensure alignment with Autodesk's financial reporting objectives

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive accounting experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, or controllership within a multinational company, including significant experience in public accounting (Big 4 strongly preferred)
- Leadership Experience: Proven success leading and scaling global accounting teams, including managing managers and senior accounting professionals
- Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CA (Chartered Accountant) strongly preferred; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of US GAAP and strong understanding of financial reporting requirements for multinational public companies
- Systems Knowledge: Experience working with enterprise ERP systems (SAP preferred) and financial close systems such as BlackLine
- Global Finance Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working with distributed global teams and cross-functional finance partners
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to drive accounting transformation initiatives and scale processes in a high-growth environment
- Communication & Influence: Strong executive communication skills with the ability to present accounting topics clearly to senior finance leadership
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex accounting issues, assess financial impacts, and drive solutions
- Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities during quarterly and annual reporting cycles
