Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
Atlassian is looking for a senior principal engineer to join the Confluence Cloud Engineering team and work closely with leadership in multiple key areas:
- Fully leveraging the power of the Teamwork Platform to power the next generation of deeply connected experiences for Teamwork Collection
- Onboarding to a new migration architecture supporting ambitious targets for migrating Atlassian's largest DC customers to Cloud for FastShift, which is our single largest driver for revenue growth in FY26
- Providing technical leadership to help our teams make the product 2X faster and more scalable while driving down costs
We are looking for an experienced high-impact engineer with architectural chops who is passionate about building systems at scale and optimizing them. You will help define technical strategy and system architecture, and support teams across a broad set of areas in addition to the areas above: permissions, security & compliance, multi-cloud, integrations, automation, admin experiences, and more.
This position will report to the Head of Engineering for Confluence Monetization & Enterprise.
You are passionate about technology, software architecture, and scalable systems. While highly technical, you are also able to connect the dots between low-level engineering projects and the ultimate impact these investments have on customer experiences.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience building and scaling web services and infrastructure
- Deeply knowledgable of infrastructural foundations i.e. AWS, RDS, and other backend technologies (knowledge of the Atlassian cloud platform is a bonus)
- Built and maintained backend systems supporting high-scale usage (millions of requests every day)
- Agile development mindset and strong communication skills, esp. written communication
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $239,400 - $312,550
Zone B: $216,000 - $282,000
Zone C: $198,900 - $259,675
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
Please visit go.atlassian.com/payzones for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones. However, please confirm the zone for your specific location with your recruiter.
