Your future team
Atlassian's machine learning teams tackle product and business challenges across the company. Working with partners across Product, Engineering, Growth, GTM, Finance, and Sales, we build machine learning infrastructure and intelligent product experiences. Our teams include machine learning and software engineers who value collaboration, knowledge sharing, rapid experimentation, and measurable impact. This role offers opportunities to work on areas such as search, recommendation, personalization, Generative AI applications, and large language models.
Responsibilities
- Build and evaluate machine learning models and Generative AI applications
- Use data, experimentation, and feedback to improve model and product quality
- Translate customer and business problems into technical solutions with cross-functional partners
- Contribute across the machine learning lifecycle, from prototyping and evaluation to deployment and monitoring
- Develop agentic workflows that combine LLMs, tools, and relevant product context to solve complex, multi-step problems
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field, and graduating by August 2027
- Experience writing reliable software in Python or Scala; familiarity with SQL or Spark is a plus
- Experience applying machine learning through coursework, research, projects, or a relevant internship
- Strong problem-solving and data-driven analytical skills

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.
In The United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $146,700 - $191,525
Zone B: $132,030 - $172,373
Zone C: $121,761 - $158,966
