Job Mission
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical leader to join Source Research department in San Diego, focusing on conceiving and demonstrating the technologies required for next generations of high-power light sources. Our team has been at the forefront of innovating and developing next generation of light sources for ASML's lithography machines and products. To maintain our competitive edge and leadership position, we are seeking an experienced professional to define and advance our source technology roadmap.
The ideal candidate will excel in a multidisciplinary setting that integrates physics, engineering, model development, and cost analysis to shape next-generation source architecture. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for innovation, a curiosity-driven mindset, and deep technical expertise to excel in a research environment operating at the fuzzy front end of product development. This hybrid architect role combines strategic system architecture leadership with hands-on technical execution on the most critical challenges.
Role and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain long term lithography source technology roadmap. Translate research from source innovation functions into system level architecture.
- Drive system level trade off analysis such as performance, cost of technology, risk and scalability. Ensure technology roadmap is realistic and aligned with research business strategy.

Education and experience
- Ph.D. with a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Master's degree with at least 8 years of experience in a relevant analytical discipline such as applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, physics, or engineering, with proven expertise in areas such as plasma, laser, and photonics.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining multi-year technology roadmaps, aligning technical maturity, cost and integration readiness with business strategy.
- Extensive hands-on experience in complex system design and construction, including experimentation, characterization, and troubleshooting. Proficient in software development using Python, C/C++ and MATLAB, with expertise in database tools and automation frameworks.
Skills
- Ability to clearly and logically communicate ideas and knowledge to various audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a team and lead investigation and research efforts involving multiple stakeholders and constraints.
- Proven ability to build trust and credibility, enabling effective leadership through influence.
- The successful candidate will not only have excelled in their technical field, but will have demonstrated inter-personal and communications strengths.
- Deep understanding of scientific research methods and strong curiosity.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$158,250-263,750
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
