Introduction to the job

Founded in 1984, ASML is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or microchips. ASML has its R&D and manufacturing operations in San Diego, CT and in Veldhoven, The Netherlands. Currently ASML is seeking a Chief of Staff to join the San Diego, CA Source Research team.

The Chief of Staffwill be responsible for further driving the maturity of the SD Source Research organization (SR), via the development of way-of-working (WOW) processes and procedures, execution of strategic, operational, and reporting activities including general Research strategy, regular budget planning and maintenance, long-term capacity planning, and policy/process development and implementation.

Role and responsibilities

  • In partnership with the organization lead, drive the ASML San Diego SR WoW, ensuring execution of company processes by the local organization and with Global Research as applicable
  • Lead the development of WOW documentation for efficient handling of financial topics including OPEX and CAPEX, discretionary departmental expenses.
  • Champion and lead in execution of processes at the San Diego site and group levels, tracking status of process implementation until sustaining levels are attained, with a plan of transitioning from establishing to maintaining the processes.
  • Collaborate in cross-site Business Development Manager initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SR organizational processes, proactively sharing cross-site inputs and process validation approaches ahead of introducing improvements or changes at the San Diego location.
  • Establish feedback loops with SR Functions managers and groups, in order to identify both potential risks in deliverable timing and improvement opportunities to raise at regular staff meetings.
  • Standardize annual goal setting and operational KPI tracking, aligning deliverable prioritization for the SR department, and organizing both tooling and reporting methodologies to enable clear messaging of objective progress towards stakeholders.
  • Apply work loading analysis into SR headcount development proposals, and long-term capacity assumptions.
  • Support knowledge transfer processes within the SR organization.
  • Coordinate and support key SR meetings, including staff, SR Review Meetings, and EUV roadmap discussions, with awareness on critical issues, often with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead activity for all SR resource management deliverables regarding near-term budget setting, and long-term capacity planning.
  • Own site level views of SD SR headcount, responsible for maintaining updated headcount information, and submitting deliverables regarding headcount in a timely fashion.
  • With reference to functional roadmaps, align strategically the Long Term Financial Planning with the annual TAP, to ensuring San Diego SR is capable to support agreed program business needs.
  • Evaluate headcount allocations against program budgets regularly, executing tooling adjustment in the event of deliverable prioritization changes.
  • Develop tooling and views supporting high-level SR site reporting and analysis, in alignment with business counterparts across sites, including key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate with local finance, PMO, and HR, regarding content/activities spanning SR and other Program organizations.
  • Collaborate directly with group/Function managers in preparing budget/capacity content and tooling to enable and clear and concise reporting views within provided timelines.
  • Represent SR input towards Corporate Real Estate (CRE) and Facilities (FAC) groups, coordinating budgetary items, working directly with group/Function managers in preparing budget, capacity, and capability.
  • Communicate CRE and FAC planning and critical information pertaining to space planning and activities affecting SR or the site.


Education and experience
  • Requires 11 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 8 years with a Master's degree, or 4 years with a PhD, in an engineering or research-enabled environment.
  • Experience as an Associate in Project Management, Sr. Planner or Project Manager of large and complex projects.
  • Expert knowledge in the area of Project Management, data analysis, and supportive tooling [MS Excel (pivot tables), MS Access, MS Project].
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and electronic e-mail systems.
  • Understanding of Change Management process and approach.
  • PMI certification or equivalent (e.g. CAPM, PMP, IPMA) desired.


Skills
  • Sufficient technical knowledge and experience to be able to communicate effectively with various teams, and to check/review their plans and progress.
  • Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Ability to effectively convey information in graphical and chart formats.
  • Good meeting practices (proper attendance, agendas, start/stop times, minutes, actions, follow-through).

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$140,625-210,938

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan.
