Job Description

The Student Unions and Centers Operations Intern will serve as the primary lead for the quality assurance for evening and weekend events and building operations within the assigned student union/center facility.

Aramark?s Step Up to Leadership (S2L) Paid Internship Program targets motivated college underclassmen and rising seniors who are eager to gain valuable business skills and leadership experience. The S2L Program is designed to provide students with key experience, expertise, and resources to help position them competitively for full-time positions post-graduation.

S2L interns gain relevant work experience, mentorship from industry leaders, and professional training to help them pursue what matters to them, both personally and professionally. Throughout the course of this premier internship program, interns have the unique opportunity to take on leadership roles within Aramark while participating in structured program activities and development exercises.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with relevant campus partners and staff to identify, coordinate, and support existing programs as well as identify new sustainability initiatives.
  • Identify, propose, implement and maintain projects while effectively communicating with students and staff to keep them knowledgeable about sustainability actions within ASU student unions and center.
  • Develop content for sustainability-related orientation materials, and activities (e.g. presentations, signage, flyers, tours, etc.)
  • Work with ASU Zero Waste to establish goals and methods for monitoring waste (landfill, recycling, compost) produced in the Student Pavilion.
  • Assist in developing marketing/promotional content and materials highlighting specific ASU goals and sustainability initiatives (Student Pavilion Net Zero and Zero Waste Catering). Ensure that content is accurate and up to date at all times.
  • Represent and present ASU Student Unions and Center sustainability goals to the public; lead/attend tours and meetings as appropriate in the building.
  • Conduct office evaluations, assess results and work with area supervisors on applying strategies to improve office sustainability practices.
  • Work with ASU Energy Innovations and other stakeholders to establish goals and methods for monitoring energy used in the Student Pavilion

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a commitment to fostering welcoming, inclusive, and diverse environments and the ASU Charter.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, establish priorities, remain flexible and engage problem solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with student and professional staff members.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including basic desktop publishing experience.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull or carry up to 25 lbs.

? Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time up to 12 hours

  • May require repetive motion

? May require working with chemicals, heated equipment, steam and other at risk conditions

? May require walking from one side of campus to another regardless of adverse weather

? Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
