This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit located in Saltillo Coahuila Mexico

Summary (About this Position):

The Aptiv Connection Systems Team is looking for a Product Engineer to join the North America Product Engineering Team. The Product Engineer is responsible to lead different projects for new Design Opportunities in order to meet program's timing, cost and all customer validation requirements and construction events. This position interacts directly with different stakeholders like Suppliers, OEMs, Purchasing, SQE, ME, CAD,QCD, TE, etc. with the aim to fulfill excellence and quality.

This position is to support activities in the Housings portfolio, reporting directly to Product Engineering Supervisor. The main functions are related to New Designs, Design Changes, Cost Reduction Projects, Customer Support and Validation Plans creation

Your Role (i.e. Key Job Responsibilities):

  • Establish, document, and follow project schedule
  • Ensure customer deliverables are met (Prototypes, Pilots, Production Trial Run parts, etc.)
  • Responsible for creating design validation plans for housings portfolio
  • Developing & validating new designs and changes to existing designs.
  • Coordinate build activities with ME & validation activities with lab & VE.
  • Interface with customers & suppliers in defining product requirements & component specifications.
  • Work with suppliers, purchasing, SQE, ME, VE, plant mfg., plant quality to resolve issues.
  • Provide support & lead technical presentations. Manage time/work in support of program deliverables.
  • Prepare and deliver design analysis reports including DFMEA, FEA, Mold flows, and tolerance stacks.
  • Provide customer support through visits, in OEM, harness or supplier plant.
  • Maintain professional and responsive customer contact

Your Required Background (i.e. Must Haves):

  • Education: Mechanic, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering or Experience on the industrial design field.
  • 90% English (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge in product design & validation methods
  • Problem solving skills, print interpretation, GD&T, and stack up studies
  • Familiar in component manufacturing processes (plastic molding, stampings, machining, deep drawn, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and motivate others
  • Ability to lead projects, directing the activity of multiple support organizations and assure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Possess sufficient CAD skills to open, manipulate, assemble, and make minor modifications to 3D component models
