As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you'll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies-like machine learning and AI-to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers' high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.
Job Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-evel software solutions supporting industrial and manufacturing environments.
The role requires expertise in C# and C++, awareness of cybersecurity principles, knowledge of relational databases principles, and the ability to evolve toward ownership of
Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other enterprise-level software platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-level software solutions for industrial automation systems, using C# and C++ languages.
- Lead software architecture, design, and refactoring initiatives to ensure scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Ensure software design follows secure-by-design and cybersecurity best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to deliver complex, high-impact projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Required Skills
- Expertise in object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and refactoring methodologies.
- Solid proficiency in high-level programming languages, preferably C++ and C#.

- Solid command of English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure software development practices.
- Experience in developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
- Previous exposure to MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) is considered an advantage.
- Experience with relational SQL databases.
- Understanding of industrial automation concepts and experience with drive systems.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
