As a Systems Engineer, you'll design, integrate, and optimize complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. Your expertise in systems thinking and problem-solving is essential as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced solutions to intricate processes and writing system specifications. You'll be responsible for analyzing requirements, defining system architectures, conducting thorough testing, and ensuring seamless integration of subsystems. Additionally, you'll identify and mitigate risks, confirming that our systems meet the highest quality standards and exceed customer expectations.
Position Summary
The Senior Solution Architect will lead the design, integration, and evolution of enterprise-grade lab systems including Lab MES, LATS (Lab Asset Tracking System), HSTS (Hardware/Software Tracking System), and PALMS (Process and Lab Management System). This role is central to enabling automation, data integrity, and operational efficiency across SCLA lab environments, with a focus on scalability, compliance, and user-centric design. The ideal candidate combines strong lab workflows with deep technical and architectural expertise, excels in system design, and applies a design thinking approach to solve complex business challenges. Hands-on experience and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture & System Design
Architect end-to-end solutions for Lab MES, LATS, HSTS, and PALMS, ensuring modularity, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
Define and maintain blueprints of architecture, including integration flows across SAP, CRM, iBase, MyLab, and other enterprise platforms.
Lead the transition from fragmented legacy systems to unified platforms using microservices and modern software stacks.
2. BU Workflow Enablement
Design and implement business-specific process and Hardware execution workflows within core systems
Analyze, optimize, and document business processes to drive operational efficiency and support organizational goals.
Collaborate with stakeholders to align system capabilities with business needs and operational constraints.
Collaborate with BU stakeholders, GIS, and LabOps to align system capabilities with business goals and operational constraints
Lead architecture reviews, MVP scoping, and governance processes for system upgrades and new feature development.
3. Integration & Data Management
Ensure robust data synchronization across systems for lifecycle tracking, tool configuration, and component relationships.
Define and enforce data governance policies, audit trails, and compliance protocols across digital lab solutions.
4. Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor cross-functional teams including developers, QA, DevOps, and product managers in implementing architectural best practices.
Coordinate with GIS, AIx, and BU teams to ensure seamless deployment, support readiness, and user training for lab applications.
Ensure high availability and performance of production environments, including infrastructure planning and scaling.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems integration, or software engineering.
Proven experience with MES, CMMS, or lab automation systems is preferred.
Expertise in system design, cloud-native architectures (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), microservices, and enterprise integration.
Strong understanding of Applied Materials systems, lab operations and process/metrology workflows.
Demonstrated ability to develop, optimize, and document business processes.
Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional leadership capabilities.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
