As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you'll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies-like machine learning and AI-to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers' high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.

About the FIFA Group

The FIFA group is responsible for developing a comprehensive software package that automates the process of semiconductors chips manufacturing. Our team specializes in backend development using Java. We leverage cutting-edge technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Gen AI tools and more to deliver scalable and reliable products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Design and develop a variety of complex software features for backend system using Java, Docker, K8S and Gen AI tools.
  • Write automation code for new and existing features to enhance product reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and industry best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Stay current with the latest software trends, tools, and technologies, and proactively apply them to improve our solutions.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Deep expertise in Object-Oriented Design and Programming, with hands-on experience in Java or C#.
  • Professional experience with core Java technologies, including design patterns, multi-threading, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and toolchains (such as JIRA) for efficient project management and delivery.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
