Job Description - Senior C++ Software Engineer
The Optical Diagnostics and Control (ODC) Business Unit is a leading division within Applied Materials focused on developing advanced inspection and diagnostics solutions for semiconductor manufacturing. ODC drives innovation across hardware, software, and algorithmic domains, delivering high-performance systems that enable precise process control and yield enhancement. The team operates in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, balancing deep technical expertise with strategic agility to meet evolving industry demands. Joining the ODC Software team means contributing to impactful technologies that shape the future of semiconductor fabrication.
We are looking for an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join the ODC Software team, which develops high-throughput image processing modules in a distributed, high-performance CPU/GPU environment. The role involves designing and implementing advanced software infrastructure, working with distributed systems, building efficient data flows and data structures, and implementing image processing algorithms. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative and technically challenging environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- As a member of this core team you will initiate, design and develop facilitating SW for the next high end processing product. You will make important technical decisions, ensure scalability and performance of our applications.
- You will create an innovative product and see it being launched.
Requirements
Must-Have:
- B.Sc. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in C++ development on Linux with Docker containers.
- Proven experience in developing high-performance distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Python - strong advantage.
- Experience with Ray Framework or similar distributed computing frameworks.
- Solid knowledge of CMake and complex build systems.
- Experience designing and implementing high-performance data flows and data structures.
- Strong design, analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Team player with experience working in Agile environments, git eco system and CI/CD pipelines

Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in real-time image processing or working with high-volume data.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Experience with messaging or IPC infrastructures.

- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and writing deployment configurations.
