As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you'll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies-like machine learning and AI-to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers' high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Software Engineer with expertise in cloud-native application development. Candidate should be very proficient in Python. This role involves designing and building scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that power next-generation enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud-native applications using Python and microservices architecture.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for requirements analysis and solution design.
  • Ensure scalability, security, and performance through best practices.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests to uphold code quality.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency Python with Design Patterns, Multithreading, Data Structures
  • Entry level proficiency in UI development using React, Node.JS
  • Hands-on experience with microservices, REST APIs design and implementation (with Flask/Fast API)
  • Expertise in containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps tools: Jenkins, Maven, Git.
  • Understanding of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with development using GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar AI-assisted coding platforms to enhance productivity and code quality.
  • Ensure high system reliability through automated validation of microservices, data flows, and service orchestration.
  • Design and develop automated test suites for backend services, APIs, and cloud-native applications.
  • Create and maintain unit, integration, and API automation tests using Python-based frameworks like pytest, unittest etc.
  • Integrate automation testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous quality checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years (up to 10 years) of experience as a software developer
