We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft 365 (M365) Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge across the Microsoft 365 suite and related services (e.g., Teams, Copilot, SharePoint/OneDrive, Office apps, Entra ID, licensing, and security/compliance capabilities), along with a strong background in PowerShell scripting, automation, low-code/no-code solutions.
Role Summary
A Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer is needed to provide technical expertise for enterprise productivity and collaboration services. This role is accountable for administration, strategy, governance, security/compliance alignment, and operational excellence across core Microsoft 365 workloads, including Teams and Copilot. The engineer will support implementations and rollouts, drive feature adoption and change management, build automation and reporting using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph, and act as an escalation point for complex issues. The role also includes maintaining documentation and delivering training to end users and support teams.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft 365 Platform Ownership & Engineering
- Serves as a senior Microsoft 365 engineer, accountable for service health, user experience, and operational maturity across core M365 workloads.
- Defines and maintains Microsoft 365 service standards, including governance, lifecycle management, and administrative operating procedures.
- Partners with Identity, Security, Compliance, Networking, Endpoint, and the Service Desk teams to ensure Microsoft 365 aligns with enterprise controls and business needs.
Implementations, Rollouts & Change Management
- Drives end-to-end delivery of Microsoft 365 initiatives, including pilots, phased rollouts, feature launches, service migrations, and operational enhancements across multiple workloads.
- Owns change management activities including release planning, adoption readiness, communications planning, and support enablement.
- Tracks Microsoft 365 updates and service changes; evaluates impact, risks, and dependencies; converts findings into actionable implementation plans.
Productivity & Collaboration Capabilities
- Administers and optimizes collaboration and content experiences across Microsoft 365, including Teams (meetings, messaging, apps), and other services.
- Ensures service configuration supports a consistent, secure, and reliable end-user experience at enterprise scale.
Governance, Security, and Compliance
- Implements and administers governance controls across Microsoft 365 including policies, lifecycle management, naming conventions, templates, sharing standards, and standard configurations.
- Collaborates with security and compliance stakeholders to support enterprise requirements such as data protection, retention, eDiscovery, auditing, and access controls (including Microsoft Purview capabilities, as applicable).

Automation, APIs, and Reporting
- Automates and streamlines reporting and administrative tasks using PowerShell, Power Automate, and Microsoft Graph API.
- Enables governance workflows (provisioning, policy application, lifecycle actions) through automation.
- Generates operational, adoption, and compliance reporting; reduces manual effort and improves configuration consistency at scale.
- Builds metrics and reporting to monitor usage, adoption, and policy compliance.
Troubleshooting, Incident Response & Continuous Improvement
- Acts as a senior escalation point for complex M365-related incidents and service degradation; drives root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Collaborates closely with L2/L3 operations teams to manage support escalations, ensuring timely resolution.
- Manages vendor support engagements (e.g., Microsoft support cases), ensuring structured troubleshooting, thorough documentation, and timely resolution.
- Produces problem records and post-incident learnings; implements preventive controls and service improvements.
Documentation, Communications, and Training
- Writes clear end-user communications (service updates, feature announcements, what's changing, adoption tips).
- Produces and maintains technical documentation for support teams (KBs, troubleshooting guides, standard operating procedures).
- Delivers training and knowledge transfer for end users and support teams, enabling self-service and faster resolution.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 services in a large enterprise environment. This includes hands-on administration expertise across multiple Microsoft 365 workloads such as Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online/OneDrive, Teams, and Microsoft 365 Apps.
- 1+ year of experience administering Microsoft 365 Copilot and/or other generative AI capabilities in an enterprise environment, including configuration and user enablement.
- Strong automation and scripting skills using PowerShell (advanced patterns, modular scripts, logging, error handling) and Power Automate.
- Well-versed in essential Azure services, including Entra ID, Automation Accounts, and Enterprise Apps.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft 365 licensing models and service plans.
- Experience working with Microsoft Graph API-including authentication concepts, permissions scopes, app registrations, and REST patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to drive enterprise rollouts and implementations, including support readiness and change management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across identity, policy, client behavior, configuration, and service components.
- Proven ability to write high-quality documentation and communications for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience providing training/enablement to end users and support teams.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a Microsoft 365 engineering/administration role.
- Demonstrated depth in at least one major Microsoft 365 workload (e.g., Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Entra ID) and working knowledge across the broader suite.
- Experience operating within structured IT processes and collaborating across technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MS‑102, MS‑700, SC‑300/SC‑400, or AZ‑104 are a plus, but not required.
