As Manager, Operations Management in R&D, you will provide leadership and operational management for R&D manufacturing activities, with primary responsibility for lot management, capacity planning, and execution forecasting in a development environment. You will also end the end-to-end coordination of wafer flow to ensure timely execution of experiments, development builds, and learning cycles. Manages and develops a team of technicians to deliver disciplined execution, data integrity, and predictable outcomes while partnering closely with Process Engineering, Integration, and Planning teams. timely delivery of R&D milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Owns daily, weekly, and longrange lot planning and forecasting for R&D development and manufacturing activities to meet experiment and program objectives.
- Manages wafer starts, WIP, priorities, and lot movement across process, metrology, and inspection areas to ensure schedule adherence.
- Leads and supervises a team of technicians, including work assignment, shift coverage, performance coaching, and skill development.
- Translate development priorities and experiment plans into executable shopfloor schedules and technician tasking.
- Tracks execution metrics (WIP aging, cycle time, ontime delivery) and proactively identifies risks to development milestones.
- Coordinates with Process Engineering and Integration teams to align DOE execution, split management, and wafer disposition.
- Ensures proper escalation and resolution of lot issues, abnormal conditions, and execution constraints.
- Drives continuous improvement in lot flow, dispatching rules, and execution efficiency within the R&D environment.
- Reviews execution data and provides clear status reporting to stakeholders on progress, risks, and recovery actions.
- Monitor equipment health and inline data to ensure productivity
People Leadership & Team Management
- Manages a group of technicians responsible for process support, metrology, inspection, and experimental execution.
- Sets clear expectations for execution discipline, data quality, and safety compliance.
- Conducts regular coaching, feedback, and development discussions to build technical and operational capability.
- Supports onboarding, crosstraining, and succession planning to ensure team flexibility and coverage.
- Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensures team compliance with Applied Materials EHS, cleanroom, chemical handling, and contamination control requirements.
- Enforces process discipline and data integrity standards across all execution activities.
- Reviews and approves Quality Notifications related to execution deviations or lot issues.
- Proactively identifies operational risks and drives corrective and preventive actions.
Functional Knowledge
- Strong understanding of wafer fabrication flows, R&D execution models, and development cycle management.
- Working knowledge of lot dispatching, WIP control, forecasting methodologies, and execution KPIs.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fastchanging development environment while maintaining execution rigor.
- Conducts thorough analyses to identify execution deficiencies, capacity constraints, and opportunities for operational enhancement
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
- Communicates clearly with Process Engineers, Integration Leads, and Planning teams regarding execution status and priorities.
- Provides concise operational updates, forecasts, and risk assessments to management and stakeholders.
- Leads effective shift handovers and crossshift coordination to ensure continuity of execution.
- Influences without authority across functional teams to drive alignment and outcomes.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Operates within cleanroom and laboratory settings, utilizing expertise in cleanroom protocols and adherence to safety standards.
- Regular presence on the production floor to support execution, issue resolution, and team engagement.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
Years of Experience
- 3-5 years in semiconductor manufacturing or R&D operations, with prior people management experience preferred.
Work Experience
- Experience in wafer fabs, with strong exposure to lot management, forecasting, and execution control.
- Prior Applied Materials environment or similar advanced semiconductor manufacturing experience is an advantage.
Work Location:
- Science Park II (Moving to Tampines in end 2026)
