Linux System Administrator / Infrastructure Developer

We are looking for a highly talented Linux System Administrator to join our Computing R&D team, dedicated to developing next-generation computing solutions as part of Applied Materials full solutions. This role requires expertise as a System Administrator for both Linux and Microsoft environments, with a strong background in automation development within these domains.

About Our Group: Computing R&D

The Applied Materials PDC (Process Diagnostics and Control) division is responsible for designing, developing, manufacturing, and supporting complex, multidisciplinary products for the semiconductor industry. These products integrate computing setups, including servers, storage systems, and network equipment. The Computing R&D Group is tasked with designing and developing the computing module during the R&D phase. Our team members are distinguished by their combined expertise in IT and development, driven by a strong desire to create the best future solutions.

What you'll be doing:

You will develop automation for computing systems and infrastructures for closed systems. You will assume full responsibility for the computing, operating systems, and infrastructures on our products, including procedures and automated unit testing / ATP, to allow transitioning our solutions to our suppliers, the production floor and eventually our customers.

Additionally, our team provides support to the Applied Materials software group, addressing installation needs for third-party software and delivering ad-hoc solutions as required for the products.

What should you have?

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator, and experience in System or DevOps roles (Linux/Windows), preferably Ubuntu knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Ansible and Linux shell scripting.
  • Ability to design and implement complex automation procedures.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Linux internals, including deployment, packaging and distribution methods, LVM, and security.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker / Kubernetes.
  • B.A. / B.Sc. in Software Development / Engineering / Computer Science or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows OS, PowerShell usage, and storage systems is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with HPC servers is an advantage.
  • Background working with OEM companies is an advantage.
