As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade advanced semiconductor equipment on customer sites
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues using digital tools and analytic techniques
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance across a range of systems, including:
- Electrical, mechanical, vacuum, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (full training provided)
- Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to identify and fix faults
- Partner directly with customers to ensure equipment performance and uptime
- Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve service delivery and processes
- Take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution
What You Bring
We're looking for curious, hands-on problem solvers who enjoy working in fast-paced, technical environments and taking ownership of their work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree (or higher) in a relevant technical field
- 2+ years of experience in field service, customer support, or a similar technical role
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
- Practical understanding of one or more of the following:
- Mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
- Comfortable using hand tools and diagnostic equipment (e.g. multimeters)
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to follow site safety and operational requirements
What to Expect
- You will work in a 24/7 shift environment, supporting critical customer operations
- You'll complete up to 10 weeks of structured training, including off-site learning
- The role includes approximately 20% travel

Working Environment
This is a highly practical, physically active role. You should be comfortable with:
- Standing and moving for extended periods
- Working in confined spaces and at height
- Lifting up to 35 lbs (approx. 16 kg)
- Operating in cleanroom environments with full PPE (coveralls, masks, gloves, etc.)
- Working around technical equipment and moderate noise levels

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
