Position Overview

The EHS Manager will lead Environment, Health, and Safety support for Applied Materials Korea's Samsung account. This role ensures safe and compliant field operations, manages customer-facing EHS issues, drives execution of Applied Materials' EHS programs, and leads a team of Safety Engineers. The position reports to the Korea Regional EHS Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS support for the Samsung account, including field service, customer fab operations, project execution, and issue resolution.
  • Manage, coach, and develop Safety Engineers by setting clear priorities, providing guidance, and supporting career growth.
  • Partner with field teams, account management, business leaders, and Samsung stakeholders to enable safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Implement Applied Materials' EHS programs and controls, including risk assessment, JHA, PTP, contractor safety, MOC, chemical safety, LOTO, electrical safety, fall prevention, and incident prevention.
  • Review high-risk work, identify hazards, define controls, and support effective execution of safe work practices in customer fab environments.
  • Provide EHS assessment and support for projects, including real estate initiatives, facility changes, and other business-critical projects requiring EHS review and risk mitigation.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, operational learning, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closure tracking.
  • Monitor Korean EHS regulatory and customer requirement changes and translate them into practical guidance for field operations.
  • Provide EHS performance updates, risk summaries, escalation items, and improvement plans to EHS and business leadership.

Functional Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge of occupational safety, field safety, semiconductor fab hazards, contractor safety, and customer site requirements.
  • Solid understanding of Korean EHS regulations and customer-facing field execution requirements.
  • Practical experience with EHS management systems, risk assessment, incident investigation, corrective action management, and field controls.

Business Expertise

  • Understands how EHS supports field execution, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and business continuity.
  • Balances compliance, customer expectations, operational urgency, and practical field constraints.
  • Experience in semiconductor, display, manufacturing, construction, equipment installation, or high-risk technical service environments is strongly preferred.

Leadership

  • Leads a team of Safety Engineers by setting clear priorities, removing barriers, developing capability, and ensuring quality execution.
  • Acts as a trusted EHS partner to field leadership and customer-facing teams, influencing safe decision-making without slowing down business-critical operations.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, sound judgment, and the ability to escalate risks and issues appropriately.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Communicates clearly and professionally with internal field teams/SPG-GFG, business leaders, customer stakeholders, and regional or global EHS teams.
  • Influences others through credibility, practical judgment, collaboration, and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build trust across functions and organizational levels.

Qualifications

  • • Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • Industrial Safety license (산업안전기사, 산업안전산업기사) is mandatory
    • 안전관리자 선임 위한 자격 보유 필수
    • Industrial hygiene license (산업위생관리기사, 산업위생관리산업기사) is preferred
    • Minimum 10 - 15 + years of experience in EHS, safety engineering, field safety, semiconductor, manufacturing, construction, or high-risk technical service; Toolmaker EHS experience is preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years of people management or team leadership experience is required.
    • Experience supporting Samsung or other major semiconductor customers is highly preferred.
    • Strong Korean and English communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customer stakeholders and regional/global teams.
