About the Role
Join our Applied Global Services organization as a Summer Application Developer Intern, where you will build a Python‑based analytic application that helps benchmark and improve part lifetimes across Applied global equipment fleets. This tool will support parts quality and reliability improvement, service optimization, and data-driven decision-making across multiple teams.

We are looking for a curious, creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn student to work closely with experienced engineers to explore real-world semiconductor equipment data, develop analytical logic, validate results, and design a user‑friendly interface for broader adoption.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
1. Data Extraction
- Design and implement logic to identify base parts and interchangeable parts using lineage, correlation and historical mapping data.
- Develop filtering and selection rules to determine valid analysis candidates (contract type, tool type, application, etc.).
- Extract part transaction records of valid candidates from Applied internal data source
2. Data Analysis
- Process part transactions and compute average part lifetime by usage metrics (orders, modules, period, etc.)
- Perform benchmarking across contracts, tools, and applications to generate statistical insights.
3. Interface Design
- Build a clear and user-friendly input configuration and output reporting interface.
- Create useful visualizations, summary tables, and automated reports.
4. Validation & Continuous Improvement
- Validate application outputs against known data and engineering expectations.
- Propose enhancements to logic, workflow, and application functions.
- Provide ideas for how the tool can be integrated into future production systems.

Requirements
- Strong Python programming skill. Basic knowledge of Excel and Tableau. Experience of applying Python to real-world applications is a plus.
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Familiarity with databases and data modeling concepts.
- Understanding of statistical concepts. Knowledge of semiconductor equipment or manufacturing is a plus
- Education: Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM fields.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
