Wireless PHY Systems Engineer
Join Apple's Wireless System-on-Chip (SoC) design team to define next-generation modem architectures and develop cutting-edge physical-layer algorithms for products like AirPods, iPhone, and Apple Watch. You'll work on system modeling, design and simulation, collaborating with RF, antenna, firmware, and software engineers to transform wireless innovations from concept to reality.

Your responsibilities include wireless system design, simulation, and pre-/post silicon bring-up in the lab by collaborating with Radio/RTL/FW team as well as cross-functional teams to deliver the products that enhance end user experience.","responsibilities":"Design comprehensive wireless system simulations modeling RF/PHY signals, channel behavior, and MAC/networking layers.
Invent physical-layer algorithms and embedded DSP solutions for wireless SoC architectures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive, simulate, implement, and verify novel PHY features.
Create models and visualizations of system performance, including propagation, RF/antenna behavior, and protocol interactions.
Perform fixed-point design and generate RTL vectors for hardware implementation.
Conduct lab FPGA/silicon bring-up and RF/PHY/MAC testing with industry-standard equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
MSEE/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with Digital Communications & Signal Processing focus.
Deep understanding of complex wireless systems and component dependencies and protocol layer interactions.
Strong software programming skills for RF/PHY modeling and MAC protocol simulation.
Proficiency in Matlab, C, and C++.
Wireless standards organization or industry consortia participation.
Experience with large-scale field and simulation dataset processing.
Publications or patents in wireless communications or signal processing.
Fixed-point design and RTL vector generation experience.
Knowledge of analog/RF impairments in wireless systems.
Industry standards experience (e.g., Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband, GPS).
Hands-on lab FPGA/silicon bring-up and PHY/RF/MAC testing experience.
Minimum Qualifications
BS degree.

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
