Technology and Metrology Engineering Program Manager - Sensors

HWTE is responsible for crafting and developing methodologies and measurement solutions for calibration and validation of key technologies across Apple's products. For new technologies, we focus on metrology development and design characterization. The team solves a multitude of imaging & sensing technologies across all product lines. We are looking for an authority, technical leader with experience in Optical sensing hardware to join the team encouraging calibration and test strategy through engagement in early stages of technology development. If you have broad experience across key hardware technologies, a strong product/customer focus, experience guiding sophisticated programs through the development process, and the ability to distill tradeoffs down to key factors and drive critical technology and product decisions we'd love to hear from you.
Description
The Technology Program Office in Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) champions technology calibration and test strategy while balancing between quality/customer experience with operational requirements. In this highly multi-functional role, we are looking for leaders to engage in early stages of technology development supporting prototyping, design validation, simulation & metrology development activities, as well as identifying mass production intent solutions. This would require proactively driving alignment and convergence plan with multi-functional teams, identifying risks & mitigating them - all while communicating frequently to senior leadership across Apple.
","responsibilities":"Strategic Alignment & Roadmap Influence: Work proactively with key HWTE technology collaborators in Europe, US and Asia to review and understand technology/module roadmaps.
Ensure strategic alignment between new technology investments and the development of appropriate, scalable, and forward-looking metrology solutions.
Collaborator Partnership: Establish, continuously maintain, and champion robust functional partnerships with key participants across Apple (Engineering, Operations, Product and Research) - across timezones and continents Engineering, Product, and other multi-functional teams globally.
Technical Program Execution: Be responsible for and drive successful execution of metrology development and algorithm pipelines from feasibility through to mass production for sophisticated technologies. Proactively identify and drive resolution of technical risks, working with engineering leads to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans
Program & Meeting Ownership: Own end-to-end project delivery, ensuring accurate completion while maintaining high quality standards through meticulous testing and validation processes. Own and drive critical meetings, technical reviews, and program updates with senior leaders and multi-functional partners, ensuring clear communication, detailed actions, and crucial outcomes. Establish and drive quarterly roadmap & prioritization reviews with HWTE leadership team.
Multi-functional Collaboration: Champion procedures in program management, risk management, and multi-functional communication to ensure timely delivery and high-quality outcomes across globally distributed teams.
Perfection: Serve as a central point of communication for program status, risks, and decisions, tailoring communication appropriately for diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in optical design and optical-sensing technologies
Understanding of hardware/software architecture and interoperability of complex systems
Knowledge of statistical data analysis, design, process and test FMEA
High volume consumer electronics calibration, testing and manufacturing experience
Technical leadership and/or project management experience with excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to bring focus and clarity to sophisticated situations while supervising the bigger picture and the needs of a rapid development cycle

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in EE, CE or related field
5 years relevant proven experience in sensing technologies
Knowledge of optical-sensing technology fundamentals
