Retail and Marcom Engineering, an IS&T team, builds and operates the systems and experiences that connect Apple's products with its customers. The team owns the technology behind both Apple's online and physical stores and drives the interactive marketing experiences and tools that keep creative operations moving. Description
We are hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to build performant user interfaces for complex problems. You will architect scalable frontend systems, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions for our customer-facing product experiences on apple.com. This role gives you the chance to work on challenging technical problems, lead initiatives, and grow with a team focused on code quality, collaboration, and continuous learning. As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor responsible for building and scaling our work. You will work at the intersection of design, product, and engineering to create intuitive, high-performance interfaces.
Responsibilities:
Build and architect features: Design, implement, and ship production-ready React applications and components for thousands of users. Make technical decisions about component architecture, state management, and performance optimization.
Drive technical excellence: Lead code reviews, establish frontend best practices, and create technical documentation to elevate the entire engineering team's skills and maintain high code quality standards.
Mentor and collaborate: Guide junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical mentorship. Work closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive product experience.
Solve complex problems: Address technical challenges including real-time data synchronization, complex state management, performance optimization at scale, and building accessible, responsive interfaces for all devices and browser.
Shape the frontend roadmap: Contribute to technical planning, participate in architecture discussions, and help define the future of our frontend infrastructure, tooling, and development practice.
Own outcomes: Take end-to-end ownership of features from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration based on user feedback and analytics
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with modern build tools and module bundlers (e.g. Webpack, Vite)
Experience architecting or leading frontend migrations and refactors
Understanding of backend technologies and RESTful and GraphQL API design
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and building inclusive user interfaces
Experience with design systems, component libraries, or Storybook
Understanding of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and monitoring tools
Effective communicator who can work across both technical and creative teams
Minimum Qualifications
5 years using TypeScript, React, and Next.js in production applications.
4 years using JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3 or responsive layouts
3 years doing web application testing practices or tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or code coverage instrumentation
3 years with JavaScript events, hooks, and state management solutions (Redux, Context API, MobX, Zustand, or similar)
3 years of application performance improvement techniques, optimization strategies or caching solutions
BS in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent job-related experience.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
