Software Engineer, App Store

Today Cupertino, CA

Apple Services Engineering is one of the most exciting examples of Apple's long-held passion for

combining the liberal arts and technology. We are the people who power Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple

Podcasts, Apple Books, and the App Store. Our products operate at massive scale, delivering a huge

variety of entertainment to customers in more than 150 countries and over 35 languages, and meeting

Apple's high expectations for performance and quality at every step.

Our engineers build secure, end-to-end solutions: the custom software that processes creative work,

the tools our providers use to deliver media, the server-side systems, and the APIs behind many Apple

services. We use those systems to build delightful, easy-to-use customer experiences, increasingly

enhanced by AI and generative AI. Thanks to Apple's unique integration of hardware, software, and

services, engineers here get behind a single unified vision, one that always includes a deep

commitment to privacy, a core Apple value.

Although Services is a bigger part of Apple's business than ever, these teams remain small, nimble,

and cross-functional, which means greater visibility and a wider array of opportunities than you might

expect. If you care about the details that make an interface feel effortless, you will find a lot to love

here.

Description

As a Frontend Engineer on Apple Services Engineering, you will build the next generation of customer-

facing user experiences for some of the world's most widely used subscription services. You will work

day to day in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript alongside modern component frameworks and

build tooling, partnering closely with design, product, and backend engineers to ship interfaces that are

fast, accessible, and beautiful at global scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role where craft matters. The surfaces you build are seen by hundreds

of millions of people, so attention to detail, a high bar for quality, and a genuine investment in

performance and accessibility are essential. You will also have the opportunity to help surface AI-

powered and generative AI capabilities in consumer-facing interfaces, translating complex model

behavior into experiences that feel simple and intuitive.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and drives their commitments to completion, who

collaborates generously, and who enjoys mentoring as much as being mentored. If you like solving

hard problems and sweating the small stuff, this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

Build and ship customer-facing web interfaces for Apple's subscription services using HTML, CSS,

JavaScript, and TypeScript.

Develop reusable UI components and shared frontend libraries that scale across multiple products,

surfaces, and localized markets.

Partner with design, product, and backend engineers to turn concepts into production experiences,

and to shape technical direction early rather than after the fact.

Optimize performance across load time, rendering, and runtime behavior, and measure the impact of

your changes rather than assuming it.

Champion accessibility and internationalization as product requirements, ensuring experiences work

for every customer across 150+ countries and 35+ languages.

Write and maintain automated tests at the unit, integration, and end-to-end levels, and help strengthen

the team's testing and CI practices.

Participate in code review, giving and receiving direct, constructive feedback that raises the quality bar

for the whole team.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated craft and a high quality bar, with strong attention to detail in shipped user interfaces.

Depth in web performance and accessibility, including profiling, measurement, and WCAG-aligned

practices in large-scale applications.

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills spanning build tooling, network behavior, and the browser

runtime.

Experience with Svelte, and with building or maintaining shared component libraries and design

systems.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of partnering across design,

product, and backend, and of both mentoring and being mentored.

Self-motivated ownership, with a history of driving commitments to completion and surfacing risks

early.

Familiarity with AI and ML concepts, and experience integrating AI-driven or generative AI features into

web interfaces.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience building complex, large-scale production applications with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Proficiency in at least one modern JavaScript or TypeScript component framework, such as Svelte,

React, Vue, or equivalent.

Experience writing maintainable CSS at scale, including preprocessors or modern CSS tooling (Sass,

LESS, CSS modules, or equivalent).

Working knowledge of the modern frontend toolchain, including Node.js, package management,

module bundlers such as Vite or Webpack, continuous integration, and HTTP networking

fundamentals.

Experience writing automated tests for frontend code using frameworks such as Vitest, Jest,

Playwright, or Cypress.
