Software Developer in Test - CoreOS

Join the team responsible for ensuring the highest quality for technologies at the heart of products known to surprise and delight our customers. The Driver Frameworks & Core Brightness Quality Engineering team is responsible for validating IOKit, DriverKit API's, System extensions, ambient light sensor and customer facing display features such as Auto-Brightness, Night Shift, True Tone Display and many more across Apple products. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure our software deliver the performance, stability, and security required to support the hardware at Apple scale.

This is a highly entrepreneurial team, always looking for innovative ways to improve status quo and solve difficult problems in new and better ways. You will work in a fast paced environment, interacting directly with development teams within the organization as well as cross-functional teams. The Quality Engineering team is looking for skilled test engineer who can design test automation and execute functional, regression, and performance testing strategies for DriverKit API's and display features across all OS's. You will ensure that these areas meet Apple's high standards for reliability, performance, and user experience.The nature of the position requires excellent communication skills, strong technical and debugging skills, and a drive to make a difference. Cross-functional collaboration and strong team spirit is key to this role.

Description

As a Software Developer in Test, you will work closely with software design and development teams to understand core technologies, and utilize the information to develop and influence quality strategies. You will design, develop, and own automated tests across driver frameworks and display features for all Apple products. You will help debug test failures and investigate issues spanning across hardware and software interaction layers to ensure new products and future software releases are delivered at the highest quality.

Experience with developing, testing or debugging device drivers, firmware or other low level software

Minimum Qualifications

Strong programming skills in Python and C

Strong understanding of software test and validation methodologies.

Knowledge of UNIX OS fundamentals

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
