The Video Engineering group is looking for a software developer with a strong emphasis on industrial automation. This position will require collaboration with multiple teams (hardware, machine learning, and user studies). We work on multiple, related projects requiring creativity and ingenuity. You will be able to demonstrate your skills and expertise as we work together to innovate. You'll be working on targeted automation projects and initiatives that span hardware and software. You'll have an opportunity to own a domain of expertise, produce tools that directly contribute towards supporting testing the quality of next-generation Apple products, and continuously grow through facing new challenges.
Description
We are an unusual team in how we operate, and we are looking for creative engineers and anyone with room to grow to join us. We are unusual in the sense that our initial work was filling a gap between Algorithm teams, Quality Assurance (QA), and User Studies. Our team performed well and grew, so we could continue to be an effective resource to other Video Engineering teams and help bridge the gap.
You will design robust and modular automation systems across both hardware and software to enhance engineering efficiency. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable solutions with minimal regressions or user-impacting bugs. The role requires strong debugging skills, including the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement effective fixes. The candidate is expected to leverage existing tools and services developed by other teams within Apple to ensure seamless integration. Clear communication is crucial, as the candidate will provide written documentation and in-person guidance to facilitate user adoption. Responsibilities also include developing and executing both manual and automated test plans across a variety of hardware and software configurations, along with documenting test cases and the corresponding test code. Close collaboration with cross-functional teams is critical to ensure complete test coverage and deliver a flawless end-user experience.
Preferred Qualifications
iOS Application and/or data pipeline/engineering development experience
Familiarity with robot kinematics, dynamics, digital control, and signal processing
Experience working with cloud storage and hosting services
Minimum Qualifications
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
Strong proficiency with Python or other scripting languages
Experience designing and deploying automated systems
Have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, industrial automation terminology, and processes
Strive to innovate and try new things, incorporating continuous improvement of testing and data collection methods
