Apple's Artificial Intelligence and Data Platforms (AiDP) team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to build and maintain high quality, scalable and resilient distributed systems that power Apple's enterprise solutions and data pipelines. Our team caters to a wide variety of real-time, near real-time and batch oriented solutions. These solutions are an integral part of business functions like Sales, Operations, Finance, Royalties, AppleCare, Marketing and Internet Services, enabling business drivers to make critical decisions. Description

This role will contribute to the development, operation, and maintenance of an infrastructure footprint for a diverse range of solutions, including web applications, data pipelines, and offline batch operations. Automation and self-service capabilities will be paramount, with the objective of efficiently managing large volumes of containers and virtual machines with minimal human intervention. Observability will also be a critical priority, as we must provide users and support teams with the necessary telemetry, monitoring, and alerting capabilities to troubleshoot various systems.

","responsibilities":"Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters at scale, encompassing both public cloud and on-premises environments, with a focus on maximizing automation.

Develop and maintain observability capabilities tailored to various application profiles, including online portals, data pipelines, and batch processing workflows.

Construct CI/CD pipelines to optimize the code flow process, ensuring efficient movement from development environments to production environments.

Prepare comprehensive alert handling procedures, run-books, and collaborate effectively with other SRE team members.

Participate actively in troubleshooting incidents within the production environment, spanning across the diverse layers of the stack.

Foster collaboration with Software Development, Business stakeholders, Production Functional Support, and other SRE teams.

Provide substantial design and architectural input when developing new solutions to ensure that the SRE perspective is consistently considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in automation to eliminate operational toil.

Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python and Java

Strong experience managing AWS services such as EC2, EKS, Lambda Functions, and networking services

Previous experience managing production solutions with JVM-based services

Knowledge in one or more data stores, including Oracle, Snowflake, and Redis

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Minimum Qualifications

At least 3+ years of experience in creating, managing, and operating Kubernetes clusters at scale.

Proficiency in Helm or Kustomize for managing Kubernetes applications and configurations.

Experience in GitOps-based deployment tools such as Spinnaker, Flux, and ArgoCD.

Knowledgeable in infrastructure templating tools like CloudFormation and Terraform.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
