We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Apple Intelligence Data Platform team.

This team powers key intelligence features across Apple's ecosystem, including Siri Suggestions, the Shortcuts app, Personalization and more, by building scalable, privacy-conscious data and ML platforms. Our team is responsible for the research, development, and deployment of the core platform that powers Apple Intelligence on device and on private compute cloud. Our work underpins several Apple Intelligence features we've shipped to our customers, including Writing Tools, Travel Notifications, system wide search, Siri, and more.

Description

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Apple Intelligence Data Platform team, you will design, build, and operate the data pipelines and platform infrastructure that power on-device intelligence and Personalization at Apple scale. You will own the systems that ingest, process, and deliver signals across the platforms enabling context-aware, proactive, and personalized experiences that directly shape how users interact with Apple products. This role is ideal for engineers with deep experience designing large-scale data pipelines, distributed systems, and platform infrastructure, with a strong sense of ownership over architecture, reliability, and delivery. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams across Apple including Accessibility, Hardware, Human Interface, NLP, and Privacy to land Apple Intelligence features in our customers' hands.

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Computer Science or a related field

Experience with on-device platforms, privacy-preserving systems, or distributed multi-device infrastructure

Familiarity with modern ML systems (LLMs, RAG, vector retrieval, knowledge graphs) and how they integrate into production platforms

Track record of independently driving end-to-end architecture and delivery across cross-functional teams

Strong intuition for performance, reliability, and cost trade-offs at Apple scale or comparable

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of increasing responsibility and relevant software engineering experience

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field

Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale data pipelines or distributed systems in production

Excellent software design, problem solving, critical thinking, and collaborative skills, including written and verbal communication

Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python, Go, Java, C++, or Swift

Ability to understand and clarify product requirements and translate them into well-scoped engineering deliverables

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $171,600 and $302,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
