Senior Product Designer (UI/UX & AI Systems)
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Product Designer to craft intuitive, high-impact, and elegant tools that power the development, manufacturing, and environmental stewardship of Apple products. Joining our Cupertino-based Product & Design team, you will touch critical enterprise platforms, from complex environmental systems modeling carbon and materials, to manufacturing design systems shared with global vendor partners, to brand-new intelligent tools built alongside sister AI teams.
If you thrive on untangling dense, high-stakes data pipelines, discovering the unsaid needs of expert users, and reimagining how people work alongside AI, this is your place.
Description
As a Senior Product Designer on this team, you won't just design screens, you will define mental models and workflows that turn massive, complex operational datasets into clear, actionable interfaces. You have an instinct for investigative user research, looking past initial feature requests to uncover the deeper latent problems users face.

You understand both sides of modern AI: how to design human-centered AI product experiences* (dealing with nondeterminism, trust, agentic workflows, and explainability) and how to design with AI to accelerate prototyping, test concepts, and move from discovery to shipped software with velocity. You are comfortable bridging the gap to engineering-whether that means whiteboarding interaction logic, reviewing front-end components, or opening a PR yourself.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
Shape Critical Systems: Own end-to-end design across diverse product surfaces, including carbon/material lifecycle modeling systems, vendor-facing manufacturing design systems, and generative AI productivity tools.
Transform Data into Action: Architect information hierarchies and workflows that make dense technical and operational data frictionless to discover, query, and interpret impact on user speed and accuracy.
Modernize Pre-AI Workflows: Reimagine established, mission-critical systems into intelligent, AI-augmented experiences that empower existing power users without disrupting their operational rigor.
Design Human-AI Collaboration: Formulate novel interaction patterns for AI and machine learning tools, establishing trust, transparency, graceful failure states, and human-in-the-loop oversight.
Uncover Hidden Needs: Partner directly with specialized internal and external users (engineers, operations leads, data scientists, vendors) to decipher what they truly need, rather than simply executing what they initially ask for.
Work Code-Adjacent: Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with software engineers in repos and sprints-translating interaction patterns directly into implementation, maintaining system consistency, and contributing code or pull requests when needed.
Design with Velocity: Leverage modern AI-assisted tools and rapid prototyping methods to collapse the distance between user research, concept exploration, and deployed software.
Preferred Qualifications
Transformational Design: Experience leading the migration or modernization of legacy, pre-AI software suites into next-generation intelligent platforms.
System-Level Thinking: Experience building, scaling, and documenting design systems used across multi-team or external vendor ecosystems.
Scientific or Operational Domain Curiosity: Prior exposure to supply chain, manufacturing, or environmental/sustainability modeling (carbon accounting, LCA, materials science) is a plus-but an eagerness to dive deep into these technical domains is essential.
Creative & Analytical Versatility (The Unicorn Bonus):
Able to explore raw datasets and validate user pain points yourself; and/or
Possess world-class brand/visual craft capable of designing a sharp, memorable tool icon or team identity mark.
Minimum Qualifications
8-10+ years of product design (UI/UX) experience shipping complex, data-dense software tools, web platforms, and operational systems.
Proven track record designing data-intensive workflows (analytics platforms, scientific/modeling tools, enterprise workflow engines, or developer platforms) with demonstrable user and business impact.
Demonstrated experience designing for AI/ML-driven features and systems-navigating probability, confidence scores, recommendations, and conversational or agentic interfaces.
Hands-on experience integrating AI into your own design workflow to accelerate user research synthesis, rapid prototyping, and production-ready handoffs.
Fluency with front-end architectures and component libraries; track record of collaborating deeply with engineering teams, including familiarity with Git workflows and opening/reviewing pull requests (PRs).
Mastery of modern design and prototyping tools; rapidly test ideas using AI assisted tooling
