Senior Manager, Spatial Platform Engineering, Vision Products Group
Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other's ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It's the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you'll do more than join something - you'll add something.
The Vision Products Group is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow a team responsible for the foundational frameworks, APIs, and advanced internal tooling that power critical system experiences. You will build and scale the team while continuing to make direct technical contributions to its hardest architectural problems. You will set technical direction, hire and develop engineers, and ship the foundation of amazing user experiences that surprise and delight.

Description
We are a team of architects and specialists building the foundational frameworks and APIs that underpin critical system experiences. We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to grow and lead this team - someone who can scale headcount thoughtfully, raise the technical bar, and continue to contribute directly to the most challenging problems.
You will be responsible for setting technical direction across two complementary surfaces: the on-device frameworks and APIs that ship in our products, and the advanced tooling and evaluation harnesses the team builds to inspect complex data, validate self-consistency, and triage unexpected behavior. You should be comfortable participating in architecture discussions, articulating design tradeoffs, and delivering highly optimized code in performance-critical environments - while also coaching engineers, partnering with QA and adjacent framework teams, and being accountable for the overall quality and timely delivery of what your team ships.
This team operates in a space where the underlying AI landscape is evolving rapidly, and the assumptions and requirements that shape our work can change dramatically from one quarter to the next. You will need strong fluency with the current state of the art and a track record of staying close to it, so that you can keep the team nimble - re-scoping priorities, adapting designs, and re-planning roadmaps as the problem space shifts beneath you.
Responsibilities:
Hire, develop, and structure the team as it grows
Set and drive the technical roadmap
Contribute directly to architecture decisions and design reviews
Re-scope priorities and adapt plans as the AI landscape evolves
Partner across QA, adjacent framework teams, and downstream client teams to land cohesive, end-to-end product experiences
Own the overall quality, reliability, and timely delivery of everything the team ships
Represent the team to senior leadership and partner orgs
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience managing managers, or a clear track record of mentoring engineers into leadership roles
Experience or interest in Spatial Computing
API design experience
Experience with iOS / macOS development
Fluency with the current AI landscape and the ability to adapt quickly as it evolves
Experience designing or operating evaluation, validation, or triage tooling for complex on-device systems
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of engineering management experience
Track record of building, leading, and growing high-performing software engineering teams
Experience hiring across a range of levels and developing engineers through mentorship, feedback, and leadership opportunities
Strong technical foundation in framework and API development, with the ability to participate hands-on in architecture, design, and code review
Experience delivering advanced internal tooling - evaluation harnesses, data inspection tools, and triage workflows for complex, multi-signal systems
Strong command of object-oriented programming (Swift preferred)
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to set direction and represent the team to senior leadership and cross-functional partners
Ability to translate ambiguous, high-level requirements into a roadmap that a team can execute against
