Description

You will join a team of attorneys in the Product & Regulatory Legal Group who support the development of Apple's artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML) technologies, products, and services, including ensuring such technologies are built and designed in compliance with an evolving global framework of laws and regulations. You will serve as the primary legal advisor on AI safety, content policy, and responsible and ethical AI development. You will support Responsible AI, Safety, IP, Privacy, Regulatory, and Engineering teams with a focus on safety by design of Apple models and proactively mitigating risks related to bias, data privacy, harmful content, child safety, and intellectual property. You also will draft and refine terms of service and acceptable use policies, ensure compliance with global content regulations, and provide legal oversight for adversarial testing (red teaming). By managing high-stakes content escalations and collaborating on safety-by-design principles, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Apple's AIML technologies remain safe, compliant, and trustworthy for users worldwide while protecting Apple from content-related liabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience advising on trust and safety or content moderation strategy.

Excellent communicator who is able to issue-spot and articulate complex and nuanced legal issues clearly and concisely to frontline business and engineering teams and senior executives alike.

Creative problem-solver who can drive projects and analyze and help resolve complex issues in innovative and practical ways.

You thrive in ambiguity and are passionate about building robust frameworks that allow for innovation while mitigating risks related to bias, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Best suited for a high energy, assertive, self-starter who loves technology and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

In-house experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of legal experience at a technology company, a leading law firm, or a government agency.

JD or equivalent and admission to at least one state bar.","internalDetails":null

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $230,500 and $346,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
