The Motion Safety & Activity Context team is looking for a talented engineer to drive design data quality and algorithm performance to develop the next generation of contextual awareness, and safety features. Your role will include ensuring the highest performance and quality of multi-modal sensor based algorithms that impact the lives of Apple customers every day.

Our team's work enables key features like Crash Detection for severe car crashes, Fall Detection, Movement Disorders API and an advanced Activity Classification. We develop science-backed designs of best-in-class AI/ML models that capture the multifactorial nature of human health and behavior, delivering insights straight to our customers. If you feel this is you, we'd love to hear from you.","responsibilities":"Challenge the design and implementation of sensor based algorithms

Define KPIs & performance targets and analyze analytics for algorithm verification and validation

Utilize cutting edge generative AI techniques to assess algorithm performance

Create automated monitoring and evaluation systems to constantly track feature performance

Profile, process, and evaluate large structured and unstructured datasets

Participate and present in code review, and data review

Perform comprehensive assessments of AI model outputs to identify areas of enhancement and facilitate algorithm improvements

Communicate with upstream (e.g. hardware) and downstream (e.g. app) stakeholders to drive end-to-end user experience of the feature.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work in dynamic environment with shifting priorities and schedules

Familiarity building data pipelines for large-scale data processing

Experience working with databases (SQL/NoSQL), comfortable with query languages and designing tables, views, indices, familiarity with AWS services/API such as S3 is a plus

Familiarity testing hardware and/or testing software (including designing, implementing and executing test plans) is a plus

Detail-oriented, able to find bugs, investigate & debug issues, and drive solutions to difficult problems

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, self-motivated, laser-focused, and solution-oriented

Minimum Qualifications

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Background in one or more of the following domains: time-series analysis, signal processing, sensor fusion, machine learning, AI models, statistics, proficient at coding in Python and/or Matlab

Proficient at data analysis, data visualization, and reporting

Experience in validating AI models, crafting benchmarks and evaluation protocols, and performing statistical analysis.
