Prototyping Software Engineer, VPG Health & Fitness
Apple's Vision Products Group is looking for a software engineer to turn early ideas for health, wellbeing, and fitness experiences into working, demo-ready prototypes. You will build native experiences across Apple platforms, integrate generative AI capabilities into those experiences, and help keep the build, release, and demo infrastructure fast and reliable.
The ideal candidate is an engineer who is equally comfortable shaping an interactive experience, wiring up an LLM-driven feature, and keeping the pipelines and devices running smoothly so prototypes get into people's hands. They move quickly from concept to working software, care about the quality and reliability of what they ship, and thrive on working across the experience and operational layers of prototyping rather than within a single slice of it.
Description
This role spans the full prototyping path. You iterate quickly and stay close to the product, taking rough concepts to polished prototypes that are dependable enough to demo at any time. As an idea evolves, you move between the experience itself and the tooling that ships it.
You are a practical, hands-on engineer who writes clean, maintainable Swift, understands the systems that build and deliver it, and has enough design sense to take a rough concept to a working prototype without waiting on a full handoff. As the team takes on new platforms and surfaces, and more AI-driven work, your range lets us grow prototyping capacity without splitting the work across more people. If you are curious, energized by ambiguity, and motivated by building software that helps millions of people live healthier, more active lives, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
Build interactive experiences across Apple platforms, owning the experience layer from early concept to working demo
Integrate generative AI and large language model capabilities into prototype experiences and tune those integrations to feel responsive and reliable
Own the build and release pipelines, device configuration, and demo infrastructure that keep prototypes reliable, easy to show, and fast to iterate on
Build and maintain the end-to-end testing and automated checks that catch breakage before it slows the team down
Partner with design, product, and engineering to move quickly from concept to polished, working software
Keep prototypes running reliably on real devices and ready to show on short notice, taking operational load off the rest of the team
