A Beats Product Design Engineer is required to be innovative and collaborative with experience in designing, developing, testing, and documenting mechanical design solutions. You will work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with teams across Apple including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Human Factors, and Software to define product objectives, design solutions, and validate the performance of those designs through mass production, all while keeping customer experience at the forefront. You will be given the opportunity to develop proprietary designs needed to enhance the functionality of our products. Electrical component and module integration

Collaborating with cross-functional partners to understand and execute on critical integration and performance requirements

Partnering with external vendors & internal manufacturing teams to optimize designs for function, manufacturability, and cosmetics

Building proofs of concept and prototypes, testing, and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Hands-on consumer electronic product design experience in a fast-paced and high-volume production environment

Direct experience with audio products and/or highly complex, wearable devices

Experience with NX, TeamCenter, or Agile

Broad range of experience designing for various materials and processes: plastic injection/compression molding, metal machining, metal forming/stamping, extensive material finishing, and cosmetic treatments

Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques to support design

Ability to work with Industrial Design to assess product features for manufacturability and recommend capable processes, equipment, etc.

Experience with component modules (audio drivers, connectors, batteries, electronics packaging, antennas, PCBAs)

Experience working with overseas manufacturers

Experience with basic finite element analysis and general mechanical engineering analysis

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact with management, team members, and external vendors to achieve project goals and contribute positively to the engineering community

Minimum Qualifications

BS Mechanical Engineering

3D CAD Expertise

2+ years of product design experience, or equivalent

Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning (GD&T) at sub-assembly and full system levels

Ability to travel internationally (up to 20%)

Flexibility and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
