Platform Foundations Manager
The Platform Foundations team at Apple, part of the Intelligent System Experience (ISE) organization, is responsible for architecting and developing the core frameworks that power both user interface development and fundamental system capabilities. The team builds foundational technologies that serve as building blocks for application experiences, as well as critical system frameworks that enable essential functionality such as application lifecycle management, process orchestration, and extensibility.
We are seeking a manager who brings strong technical curiosity and a demonstrated ability to quickly ramp in new areas, building depth across a broad set of technologies. This leader will inspire and motivate engineers, foster a culture of ownership and innovation, and keep the end-user experience at the center of all decisions and execution.
Description
As an Engineering Manager on the Platform Foundations team, you will collaborate with leaders across multiple engineering organizations at Apple, spanning UI layers to low-level OS infrastructure. You will build strong cross-functional partnerships while advocating for your team's technical direction, priorities, and contributions.
You will be responsible for project planning, execution, and resource allocation, ensuring your team consistently delivers high-quality solutions that delight customers around the world. Balancing hands-on technical leadership with people management, you will guide the development of innovative OS-level capabilities while supporting the growth and success of your engineers.
Your team's work underpins how features are built and delivered across the platform year after year, with a strong emphasis on quality, reliability, and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of Apple development technologies including libdispatch, XPC
- Excellent understanding of optimization and performance issues across OS software layers
- Experience developing public or private APIs
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of engineering management experience leading iOS, macOS, or systems-level development teams
7+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in C, Objective-C, or Swift
Proven track record of shipping complex software products and/or frameworks
Experience with concurrent programming and multi-threading
Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Open-minded, strong collaboration skills, pro-active mindset
Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent work experience","internalDetails":null
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
