Yesterday Cupertino, CA

Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other's ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It's the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you'll do more than join something - you'll add something.

At Apple, innovation comes from individuals working together to build products that transform how people live, create, and communicate. Our Hardware Technology organization develops the cutting-edge modules that power Apple's next-generation devices. We are seeking a Manager for Module Systems Engineering to lead battery and camera module test strategy, architecture, and execution. In this role, you will define and drive test methodologies for high-volume consumer hardware, ensuring our modules meet Apple's exacting standards for performance, safety, and reliability while leading multidisciplinary teams across global design, reliability, and manufacturing groups.

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Module System Engineer specializing in test instrument development for Camera and Battery module validation and characterization. This role focuses on designing and developing sophisticated test equipment and measurement systems to support comprehensive module testing throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess deep electrical engineering expertise with extensive knowledge in test methodology development, instrumentation design, and characterization techniques. Strong technical proficiency is required in understanding electro-mechanical system architectures, optical-electrical performance parameters for camera modules (including sensor characterization, ISP testing, lens quality metrics, and power consumption profiling), and electrochemical testing requirements for battery modules (including capacity measurement, impedance spectroscopy, safety testing protocols, and thermal characterization). The engineer must have thorough understanding of module design principles, specifications, and failure modes to develop effective test solutions that ensure product quality and performance in consumer electronics applications including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and wearable devices.

Beyond core test instrument development, this role demands hands-on involvement in factory deployment of test systems, including real-time support for test equipment optimization during prototype validation, developing automated test sequences and data collection systems, and ensuring test coverage meets all product reliability and quality requirements. The engineer will lead cross-functional Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FACA) processes by providing advanced diagnostic capabilities through custom test solutions, respond to production line issues with specialized test equipment and measurement expertise, and drive systematic root cause analysis using data acquired from purpose-built test instruments. This position serves as a critical technical bridge between module design requirements, comprehensive validation strategies, and scalable production test solutions, requiring expertise in both test instrument architecture and practical implementation in high-volume manufacturing environments.","responsibilities":"Design and develop specialized test instruments for camera and battery module validation, including optical measurement systems, electrical test fixtures, battery characterization equipment, and automated data acquisition platforms
