Description
As a development engineer working on our team, your primary responsibility will be expanding a framework for making Apple products more personalized and intelligent in the context of Maps and Locations. You will work closely with designers and engineers across Apple to add new features and build the best proactive mapping and recommendations experience.
You'll need to be a proficient iOS, macOS, or watchOS developer and also be able to debug application performance using various tools and techniques. An aptitude for crafting user and developer interfaces will also serve you well. While this is a non-UI role, you will deeply impact the UX for which you will need constant communication with the Human Interface team. Maps frameworks are supported on multiple platforms (iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS), so understanding and developing shared codebases between different operating systems is a must.
Responsibilities:
Build developer-facing frameworks and libraries
Translation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
Collaborate effectively with multi-functional engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with and a passion for personalized recommendations
Experience with Systems Programming (frameworks/libraries/daemons)
Familiarity with Machine Learning concepts and technologies
Minimum Qualifications
BS and 5+ years of industry experience
Advanced knowledge of Objective-C, Swift, C++, or C (listed in order of preference)
Experience with multi-threaded and multi-process designs, performance analysis, and optimization
Experience working on developer-facing frameworks or libraries
Track record of shipping products on tight deadlines with high quality
Solid understanding of fundamental computer science concepts such as object-oriented programming and design skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
