Input Devices System Design Engineer
Apple's Input Devices group is seeking a world-class electrical engineer to develop and ship the next generation of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) hardware (e.g. mice, trackpads, keyboards, remotes, etc.). This is a hardware design EE position that entails working with cross-functional teams on the design, implementation, integration and qualification of Human Interface Devices. Come join us!
Description
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in product development, guiding the product from the early design stage through various engineering validations and ultimately to the mass production-ready phase. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in electrical engineering, exceptional debugging capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively within teams. Beyond initial design, you will collaborate with various teams to contribute to build schedule planning, data analysis and debugging, test coverage planning, EE characterizations and etc. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to taking full ownership of EE design and facilitating alignment between cross-functional teams to ensure that concerns from each team are addressed accurately throughout the hardware prototyping and validation stages.
Your primary focus will be on ensuring the project's seamless execution, which demands a robust technical skill set for crafting a high-quality initial design, a keen awareness of potential risks associated with design characterization items, and outstanding communication skills to ensure that each team's contributions are adequately covered during validation.
In essence, this position demands not only proficiency in electrical engineering but also exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in written and oral communication.
","responsibilities":"Execution of the design in high volume. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and drive for results. Assess projects risk/maturity level and perform tasks including characterization and validation across all development builds.
Apply state of the art sensing and haptic technologies to design next generation human interface devices.
Authoring of detailed engineering requirements specifications.
Schematic capture and managing PCB layout design of the electrical system, including power management, micro-controller, wireless communication, sensor integration and component selection.
Working with and handling suppliers/manufacturing partners including overseas build support.
Work with and present to cross-functional leaders for project evaluations and discussions.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful track record of working closely with mechanical engineers and firmware teams.
Experienced in circuit debugging, failure analysis and come up with efficient corrective actions.
Experienced in sensor selection and integration at system level. (Capacitive, optical, resistive, or any type of sensors)
Experienced in designing high volume, high quality consumer electronic products
Experienced in data analysis and scripting languages.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of board/system level electrical designs with micro-controller.
Hands-on experience in prototype design, bring-up, debugging, characterization and functional verification.
Working knowledge of system-level design and familiar with common interfaces: I2C, SPI, JTAG, USB.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree in EE or above, with 3-4 years working experience in related fields.
