Description
This role is all about making systems that have never been made before. Working with cross-functional engineering teams to define new prototype systems, design electronics that implement them, build them, and validate them. This role requires an engineer who is familiar with a full development cycle, who thrives when distilling clarity from uncertainty, and who can coordinate effectively across organizations, some international. You will be expected lead electrical engineering initiatives by example, drawing upon your previous experience and adapting to the unique needs of the program. As appropriate, you will be expected to manage individuals and guide their work as well as their growth.","responsibilities":"Design and validate high-performance analog/mixed signal circuits that interface with state of the art optical components and meet high level system requirements

Identify and analyze system tradeoffs of implementation strategies including PCB functionality partitioning, approach to testing and validation, flexibility vs. size/power
Plan electrical engineering work with other leads to define milestones, then guide and focus team members to deliver on time
Facilitate clear, efficient communication within the electrical engineering team and cross-functionally to keep stakeholders in sync
Directly manage individual contributors as appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of industry experience in electrical engineering
Familiarity with systems that include sensitive analog/mixed-signal circuits, FPGAs, and embedded microcontrollers
Experience with circuit simulation tools, such as Hspice, LTspice, or Spectre
Skilled with PCB layout on complex multi-layer boards
Experience working with multiple cross-functional teams (e.g. software, mechanical, optical) to balance design tradeoffs
Experience with supporting factory builds and scaling from hand-built prototypes to 1000s of units
Exposure to various system modeling and simulation tools, such as ANSYS, Verilog A/MS, Simulink, COMSOL
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Minimum Qualifications
BS degree in EE or related field
Experience designing analog and digital circuits
Experience with various schematic capture tools, such as Eagle, Altium, or Cadence
Experience taking system through a full cycle - architecture, design, fab, bringup, debug, characterization
Experience with standard lab equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers)
