Haptics Control Engineer

The Haptic Engineering team develops innovative haptic solutions that are central to Apple's products, including the iPhone and Apple Watch. We are seeking a control engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of control systems and algorithms for next-generation haptic actuators and experiences. Come join us!

Description

Your role will encompass a diverse array of responsibilities, including:

Control system design, analysis, and integration for haptic actuators

Characterize and validate haptic module and system performance

Perform system modeling and simulation

Prototype bring-up, debug and characterization

Define factory test requirements for haptic system

Author engineering requirements and specifications

Communicating cross-functionally and throughout management structure (written, verbal, and presentation)

Perform failure mode analysis and problem solving

International travel to support the product development

IP generation

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience in control system design, analysis, implementation, and validation

Familiarity with modeling electro-mechanical system

Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink and C/C++

Experience with electromagnetic or piezoelectric actuators is a plus

Experience with high volume mass production is a plus

Knowledge of micro controller or embedded hardware/software is a plus

Knowledge of state-space techniques is a plus

Knowledge of nonlinear control technique is a plus

Experience with AI/ML-based control system design is a plus

M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent with a specialization in control engineering

Minimum Qualifications

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Strong background in control engineering, dynamics, and signal processing

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Team Oriented: must be able to thrive in collaborative cross-functional environments
