GenAI Software Tooling Engineer (Electrical Systems Engineering)
The Hardware Test Engineering team develops world-class electrical instruments that enable the design, validation, and manufacturing of Apple's most advanced products. We are looking for a passionate GenAI Software Engineer to design and build the next generation of AI assisted and powered hardware test tools. You will work at the intersection of hardware and the bleeding edge of GenAI software; heavily curated tooling experiences (UI, UX and tool features) that allow Apple Hardware Engineers to do their existing work easier and faster.
Description
Develop highly specialized UI and UX applications that work seamlessly within the Apple internal ecosystem
Architect and implement frameworks, APIs, and control layers across the company to ensure reuse and scalability
Build and maintain data pipelines that feed hardware telemetry into GenAI systems
Develop evaluation harnesses to measure GenAI output quality and reliability
Implement prompt engineering frameworks and agent workflows for hardware diagnostics

Work directly with hardware test engineers to understand their exact why/what/when and how of their day to day work, and how to give them the best GenAI experience
Preferred Qualifications
Existing Test Electrical Engineering experience - "How do Test Electrical Engineers actually do work?"
Experience designing or integrating APIs and frameworks in Swift
Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
2+ years of experience
Strong general programming skills and understanding
Familiarity of how Foundation GenAI models work, how Agents work, how Skills work, and how to test and develop custom software with them
Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 10%
Experience in automated UI testing and regression
Experience in CI/CD software pipelines
Exposure to prompt engineering or LLM application development

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
