FPGA Design Engineer - Instrument Engineering
This small team of extraordinary engineers designs and produces precision RF and Analog Test. Equipment for use in calibrating and testing cellular, 5G, WiFi, BT, mmWave, UWB and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches. All members of the team bring their own unique expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to Apple's exacting standards resulting in breathtaking test equipment that maintains the quality, accuracy and function of commercially available offerings.
Description
As an FPGA design engineer, you will develop and optimize precision test equipment used by RF automation systems to test Apple's newest products, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and others, for different wireless technologies. Duties include RTL Design, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and manufacturing support. Work with technology suppliers, vendors, and cross-functional staff. The position will require some international travel.

","responsibilities":"Designing, coding, and implementing digital logic for FPGAs using VHDL or Verilog
Develop comprehensive test benches to verify HDL code for functional correctness, performance, and compliance with specifications.
Perform static timing analysis (STA) to ensure that the design meets all timing requirements.
Validate functionality, performance, and stability of the design in the system.
Write clean, maintainable production code with appropriate documentation and tests.
Give to architecture decisions, design reviews, and peer code reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience in digital circuits, state machines, pipelining, memory interfaces, multiple clock domains, and high-speed designs.
2+ years of experience designing modem or DSP algorithms in FPGAs or ASICs and successfully shipping products based on them.
Experience with AMD Versal platform and AIE.
Experience with Cadence Simulation Tools.
Knowledge of UVM.
Knowledge of RF and DSP fundamentals.
Knowledge high-speed communication protocols like PCIe, 100GbE, JESD204C.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is needed, and we highly value Master's or above. Relevant fields including Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, and other Engineering domains.
Proficiency in at least one HDL, Verilog, or VHDL, ideally both, for FPGA designs.
Experience in analyzing, optimizing, and achieving timing closure for high-speed designs in FPGAs.
Proficiency in writing and maintaining simulations to verify designs before deploying in hardware.
