Description
The Engineering Project Manager, Global Regulations & Strategy role in PACE is a high-visibility role with broad impact. You will be regularly leading reviews with cross-functional leadership on critical standards and regulations impacting Apple's business. To achieve this, you will drive alignment across the engineering (Product Safety, Environmental, EMC, and Wireless Teams) and key business partners (Legal, GA, Ops, Global Supply, and others) while ensuring broad awareness of the latest standards and regulations for each domain. You will work closely with internal engineering teams and senior managers to ensure our products meet the highest international and Apple-specified requirements. You will develop, refine, and uphold project schedules needed to ensure the continued development of our internal regulatory tracker.
You will oversee issue and priority management efforts among Engineering Program Managers to make data-driven decisions impacting product integrity, and ultimately Apple as a whole.
You will be responsible for communicating and delivering briefings and updates to senior engineering management and executives to enable rapid decision-making within Apple's product development life cycle.
You will also work alongside engineering leaders to engage in external-facing outreach to technical bodies, committees, and even regulators, to champion Apple priorities.
You will engage with cross-functional partners to drive consensus, define clear objectives, and manage competing tradeoffs across programs in the Wireless regulation space.
You will also drive process discipline, technical rigor, and help close critical gaps throughout our compliance processes. Where needed, you will be charged with helping to build and implement scalable systems that enable predictability and consistency across programs.
You will also be charged with facilitating escalation management, and provide updates to executive leadership, while ensuring information flows across teams are seamless and aligned to organizational priorities.
You will manage key project management collaborative, tracking, and communications tools and systems. You will also administer effective use of those systems to ensure established processes are followed.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience or an MBA is a plus.
Experience interfacing with government, agency, and/or regulatory officials while navigating sensitive geopolitical situations is highly desirable.
Experience in international and/or regional Product Safety, Environmental, EMC, and Wireless standards/regulations, and/or government affairs is a big plus.
Experience with high-volume manufacturing and product development is also desirable.
Foreign language proficiency relevant in major markets is desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least 7-10 years of experience in technical program management, issues project management, or a related role, within a hardware development or NPI environment. Equivalent experience in relevant fields to be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Strong overall experience in the regulatory or comparable domain with broad understanding of regulations, advocacy, standards, and overall ability to interpret regulations for product and schedule impact.
Great ability to synthesize regulations into strategies for product delivery roadmaps.
Exceptional collaborative leadership style with innate understanding of product development and a sense of drive to deliver impeccable product experiences. Organizational effectiveness and attention to detail are vital.
Demonstrated skills in project management tools, schedule development/management, and leadership experience.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally, harness the powers of teamwork, and relate to a myriad of technical partners.
Highly effective communicator, using both spoken and written forms; sharp interpersonal skills who understand how to communicate across varied audiences in a climate of debate.
Sound executive presence with the strong ability to communicate at the senior leadership levels.
Strong hunger factor and courageous spirit with a proclivity towards action and creative problem-solving.
Calm under fire, high resilience, and interest in complex problem-solving within a challenging and fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel unrestricted, up to 15% of the time. This role requires periodic travels to address anticipated (and unanticipated) project demands.
