Apple Places Engineering is looking for a highly skilled Engineer with a strong foundation in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and solution architecture to lead and support innovative technology initiatives for Apple Places Facilities, Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), and Sustainability programs. This role requires deep technical proficiency in designing and managing scalable, secure, and highly available systems across cloud and on-premises environments, combined with a leadership mindset to drive cross-functional collaboration, operational excellence, and strategic technology adoption. The ideal candidate will be an architect and operator of resilient infrastructure, enabling data-driven decisions and sustainable practices while mentoring teams and influencing organizational best practices to ensure reliable, compliant, and efficient enterprise solutions.","responsibilities":"You will play a critical leadership and technical role to design, develop, and operate scalable, secure, and highly available systems that support mission critical initiatives for Apple Places. This role blends deep engineering expertise with strategic architectural oversight and operational leadership to enable efficient, reliable, and compliant enterprise technology solutions.
You are an independent problem-solver who occasionally takes directions from seniors and is capable of exhibiting deftness to handle multiple simultaneous challenging priorities and deliver solutions in a timely manner. Provide incident resolution for all technical production issues. Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation reflecting configuration, and responsible for writing justifications, training users on complex topics, writing status reports, documenting procedures, and interacting with other Apple staff and management.
Provide guidance to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of systems. Strong troubleshooting ability will be used daily; will take steps on their own to isolate issues and resolve root causes through investigative analysis in environments where the candidate has little knowledge/experience. Administer and ensure the proper execution of the backup systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Should be highly proactive with a keen focus on improving the uptime availability of our mission-critical services
Deep expertise in Linux/Unix system administration, including kernel calls, processes, memory management, and system troubleshooting
Solid understanding of networking concepts from basic TCP/IP to more advanced layers involving packet flow, congestion protocols, etc.
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, including multi-cloud and hybrid environments
Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
Proficiency in container orchestration and management tools like Kubernetes and Docker
Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, systems engineering or SRE with exposure to complex, distributed systems or production environments
Strong proficiency in programming and scripting languages, especially Java
Bachelor's Science in Computer Science or related work experience
